Just read all the newbie stuff and didn't see what I wanted the answers to. I've been on this site for about 2 weeks now and just started to come around and post. Ok Just got my machine on Friday, still feeling tired during the day so no great turnaround just yet. It takes awhile for some people to start working right? The bridge of my nose and forehead have broken out in small little whiteheads due to my mask so I went ahead and ordered a pad a cheek today. It is so nasty and embarrassing to walk around with my face broken out like this so I really hope it helps. Also ordered some citrus wipes and a hose cover.
--Ok so I don't have the money for the software package now but wanna make sure my therapy is working correctly, somewhere I read my machine will tell me some data just like the software. How do I do that?
--Can somebody describe a leak to me? Like sometimes when i breath out the mask will raise up and leak out of one of the bottom sides, not a large amount of air though. As long as its not leaking on inhale I'm ok right?
Just a newbie with a few questions
Re: Just a newbie with a few questions
Welcome! I don't have your machine but I believe you can access the nightly data for it. Its a little complicated, you have unplug it, hold down some buttons, stand on your right foot, count backwards from 50 to 37, etc.... You can wait for an answer or do some searching, this link might get you started: http://www.cpap-supply.com/Articles.asp?ID=130
A leak is a leak is a leak, and leaks are always bad. CPAP (CONSTANT Positive Airway Pressure) works by holding your airway open using air pressure, so if the air leaks out your airway could collapse and you are back in Apneaville. Your machine will try to compensate for minor leaks. Leak control is often one of the first hurdles for new users to overcome. If you can get your data, then you can find out if what you are experiancing is cause for concern or not and make some adjustment, although generally any leakage above the expected amount (all masks are designed to leak a certain amount to clear out the CO2 you breath out) needs to be watched. Since you are having issues with leaks and with what sounds like pressure sores on your nose, you could have the wrong size mask or have it adjusted incorrectly. Good luck with your treatment!
