FINALLY!!!

Post by Elbysmom2004 » Sat May 09, 2009 6:45 am

I finally have my machine set up with the proper mask. She came out on Thursday and just handed me the mask and said "here's the one that you are insisting on" and pretty much left! I don't care though because that is the one they gave me when I had the sleep study and that is the one that I knew would work fine without any or very little leaks and comfy. So, Thursday night I slept. I slept for the first time in years! It felt GREAT. I left work early on Friday to take my son to the dr and with a hurt ankle did that, cut my grass, put weed n feed on my yard before the rain, cleaned my deck, cleaned under my deck, went to home depot and got my kids 3 50lb bags of sand for thier sand box (which sat empty last year). Carried all three bags to the shed. Took a shower, went and got dinner then took kids to the park. I even was able to stay awake during work and was able to stay awake to give them baths. Even with throbbing ankle. That was after only 5 hours on the machine.

Last night, OMG!, I slept for 7 hours on the machine (even though I hate the process and the white noise which isn't too bad) I LOVE the sleep. I won't go anywhere without my machine!

After work I'm going to get stuff to fix deck, clean the sandbox and put the sand in it. I don't have a really big burst of energy I just feel like this gloom and clouds are starting to go away. I kept driving past my place yesterday looking at it when I was done and thinking to myself that I really have missed out on a big chunk of life. Seeing how nice it is starting to look makes me want to keep doing more. Going to start a garden soon.

At least I caught it when my twins were 3 and not 30 (If I would have lived that long)!
Pressure set at 15
Ramp:20 min starts at 4.5.

Congrats! Sounds like an overnight success story (no pun intended!) for you, and that's terrific.

Hooray!!
Welcome to the forum!
Doesn't it feel wonderful to know that you can go to bed and actually sleep? Just keep in mind that we all have bad nights now and then. When that happens just post for help and someone will be here for you. You're off to a great start and will do well with this. Of course with your plus machine you won't be able to collect any useful data if you do have a problem. But through experimentation you can still figure out what will work for you.
We love success stories, keep posting!!!

Brenda

Great to hear of your success, Elbysmom! It's not everyone's experience, but you made me smile this morning to remember my first week with cpap and my feeling like I couldn't wait to hit the sack every night because it was just so good, compared with the way I used to stay up till all hours dreading the toss-n-turn nightmare. Thanks for sharing your inspiring experience.

Great news! I wish any one of my dozen masks worked half as well.

But, with all that wonderful energy, perhaps you could come over to my
house--a decade of work to catch up on...! LOL

Good for you!! It is wonderful to get a good mask early on. I can relate to your early success . . . how unbelievable it is to get REAL sleep and feel great the next day. Whoopee

As someone else said, there will be ups and downs which everyone experiences. We will be here to help you "tweak" things when that happens . . . or at least to encourage you

For now, bask in your "new life". Your CPAP machine is now your best friend!

Next project might be to irritate the DME even more, and take in a doctor's script specifying the M-Series "Pro" or "Auto w. AFlex" which are both FULLY data compatible and allow you to monitor your therapy with Software. That's the only way to really know what's going on as you move forward.

WELCOME TO CPAPTALK!

Joy
