Being kept alive by artificial means.
Being kept alive by artificial means.
Does anyone else feel this same way? First it was the high BP. I take pills for that. Then it was the diabetes. More pills and more recently two kinds of insulin. Then the swelling and the kidneys. More pills for that and stockings for the venous insufficiency. Then a pill so my food moves through me and doesn't get stuck in my stomach. And another pill for the reflux that probably comes with that. And now a machine when I sleep. I'm begining to feel like I'm not really human any more.
Re: Being kept alive by artificial means.
YES!! YES!! YES AGAIN!! At night when I put on all my gear, I practically feel like the Bionic woman: dental splint goes on the teeth, post-surgical splint on right hand, CTS splint on left hand, epicondylitis splint on the elbow, then mask, hose, et al. I'm like Lego Lady, reassembling myself every night! Still, the benefit of waking up every morning still beats the alternative

I forgot about the splint in the mouth. I used to try to use one because the dentist I was seeing at the time felt I was grinding my teeth. I tried two different kinds. All they did was make me drool and wake up with a sore jaw. i am seeing another dentist now and he hasn't said anything about the grinding.

I was talking about this with a friend on recently, i was saying that in a way it is probably just as well that i am single and live alone- I have MS and a couple of other health problems- i can remember seeing a scene in a clint eastwood movie where he was a secret service agent looking after the president and he was about to have a passionate moment with a female agent- as they were heading to the bed they left a trail of guns, ammo, gunbelts etc- it was quite amusing. For me it would be , park the electric wheelchair and put the battery on cahrge, then take of the prosthetic leg and silicon liner, and the knee brace on the other side, tke off the compression stocking, empty the catheter bag and connect it to the over night bottle, then reach for the chinstrap and mask, connect the Vpap up- by the time that is all done the urge would well and trully gone!! I am wondering what will be next!

Another way to look at is that you have become very well aware of the imperfect human condition.
25 years ago I thought I would live forever and be robustly healthy always. Now I look around at so many friends with knee replacements, heart bypasses and even worse. Sleep apnea has slowed me down a good bit also.

Darth CPAP!
I know what you are feeling. I am only 36 and just beginning to accept the pains of getting older. I'm hoping that CPAP will help me get off my BP meds and improve my overall health. Maybe it'll do the same for you? How long have you been on CPAP therapy?

Yes for sure, I can really empathise with you.
Re: Being kept alive by artificial means.
I call all of this that I have "the disease of the day". Each time I have a doctor app't there is something new that has attacked my body. Guess I can not really complain as I lived 72 years without to much wrong and was still riding my horse. Now at 76 I just try to overlook my limitations and go with the flow. You have to have these aches and pains in order to appreciate what others are going through. I feel that everything happens for a reason.
If not for modern medicine I would not be here and am sure that there is a reason for my still limping around this world.
What a beautiful sunny day we are having today and spring is really taking hold-so all is well in the world.

This all means that you are human... like the rest of us.Juliebove wrote:Does anyone else feel this same way? First it was the high BP. I take pills for that. Then it was the diabetes. I will speak for myself here... losing weight can make a tremendous different in how one feels and treatment needed for ailments. However, I have no personal expectations that losing weight will make much if any difference with the apnea.
Your apnea, blood pressure and diabetes are all inter-related. Get that apnea under control and your blood pressure may drop some on its own... which in turn will be good for preserving the function of your kidneys.
Above all else... keep a positive attitude and always be doing something good for your health.

Yep. Some also say that you are what you eat. I'm gussing that you eat too many carbs and artificial foods based on the symptoms you describe.Juliebove wrote:Does anyone else feel this same way? President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Wow! That's a lot. I guess everybody probably has some sort of problem that maybe the rest of us doesn't know about.kebsa wrote:I was talking about this with a friend on recently, i was saying that in a way it is probably just as well that i am single and live alone- I have MS and a couple of other health problems- i can remember seeing a scene in a clint eastwood movie where he was a secret service agent looking after the president and he was about to have a passionate moment with a female agent- as they were heading to the bed they left a trail of guns, ammo, gunbelts etc- it was quite amusing. That's true. I remember when I thought 35 was ancient! Then I had a baby at 39.rooster wrote:Julie,Juliebove wrote: ........ I'm begining to feel like I'm not really human any more.
