Why are we doing this, again?
Sigh. I am doctor-challenged. Saw cardiologist yesterday and got a good report on echo. Great news. I, apparently mistakenly, understood that apnea can cause heart problems, strokes, heart attacks, and sometimes death. The cardiologist assured me that apnea does not affect the heart at all. Isn't that great news?????
Cardiologist checks me out every two years because I have an unusual T wave, nothing to worry about. Also some thickening of heart wall is nothing to be concerned about. Nothing is related to apnea. Nothing is worrisome. I feel so reassured.

Well done Dan!!

I'm laughing too!
But I swear, it never ceases to amaze...what one hears some doctors saying.
Of course they probably think the same if they ever take a passing glance at these message boards - all our talk of tape, pantyliner thins and pantyhose legs, and ferreting out card readers from around the world...just to try to get good treatment! LOL!!

Oh, heck, and here I was being the queen of doom by telling a friend of mine you hadn't gone back on CPAP after a cold that he might as well write his will and make sure there was gas in the car every night, because he was probably going to end up at the hospital early some morning from a recurrence of his heart problems. Guess I'll have to apologize (NOT).
Good news, he has gone back on his CPAP a few weeks ago, but was off for about 4 months. No telling how much damage that did to him in that amount of time, not wearing it. this is the one that also has high cholesterol, diabetes and has had several heart attacks, and is overweight (of course). When I told him he was going to die if he didn't get started on it again, his wife was right next to him..

a dissenting voice
I have had two hospital admissions with congestive heart failure both admissions
attributed to sleep apnea. Blood oxygen kevel was 48%. Since the start of CPAP use, which I hate, My cardiologist tells me I have significant improvement in my CHF.
