Respironics Remstar M Series A-Flex Restarting

Post by sionghua » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:44 pm

Hi all,

my Respironics Remstar M Series A-Flex keeps restarting itself when the air flow is activated. This only occur since last night, have been using it for nearly 2 years.

Anyone knows how to fix this without having to send it back? I have got a RMA number from cpap.com but would prefer if it can be fixed without sending back.

Thanks in advance.

You may just have to send it back. I understand you don't want to be without it. Don't know a way around that if you don't have a backup machine.

Is the "Auto Off" feature turned OFF in the setup menu?
Beyond that, it could be the power brick or the electrical outlet (among others).
Is the machine plugged into a surge suppressor outlet strip?

No error, it only start rebooting when the air flow is started.

mine is doing the same thing. incredibly annoying. going to try the power strip option but i'm fairly certain my power isn't browning out (i work for power company). Initially tried adjusting the settings... turned off auto off (separate post implied that might be a problem), but that didn't solve situation. took to my 'technician' today and he 'tested it' -- HA -- and locked settings... DOUBLE HA.. Good God do these people think we are children.

So... any resolution on your machine? did you have to send back? Did it ever get resolved? Nothing more annoying.

Have you tried unplugging the cord from the machine, wait a minute then plug it back in? Mine likes to beep every once in awhile for no reason....and of course its in the middle of the night. I just unplug, and that resets it. If I didn' have a back up I would not want to send it in for repair either. I bought mine for less than $100 as my backup, but I now use it as my primary as my first machine is a brick and this one is an auto.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Yes, unplugged, replugged, and even plugged into a power strip. If auto off is off mine will run blowing no problem. But if i use w/ mask after about 20 minutes it just 'restarts'.

I haven't checked yet but could it be because the chip is full? I cannot imagine that as i've only had about 6 months and that chip should hold TONS of data.

Other ideas? I've arranged w/ technician to swap out but that won't happen until Thursday.

On a side note... does anyone find the whole structure w/ the technicians a bit patronizing and a bit of a scam? I noticed he locked my ability to change controls after looking at the machine yesterday (I had tried tweaking levels in an effort to correct the problem). Silly technician... so easy to find out how to unlock those things. But I'd prefer a tech who discussed things with me than tried to 'control' things.

I find it highly annoying to be treated like I don't have a brain in my head. Irks me beyond words.

What machine are you using? You mention chip...did you mean SD card? If so, no way would it be anywhere near full after 6 months. After 6 months on my machine I still had 98% free space.

If it is a PR System One machine of some model similar to the one in my profile (click on link to see)..
Check your connections from the power cord to the machine..sometimes it doesn't snap in securely and will come loose and cause intermittent power issues.
Also check connection to the brick.
On a few occasions people have found the power supply (the brick) to be faulty. If you do get your machine swapped out...make sure they give you a new power supply cord with the brick...just to eliminate that possibility.

I have this similar problem. The REMSTAR 550P would turn off early in the morning (3 or 4 am). Then when you try to turn on, it just turn back off. Power supply is good. I opened the unit and unplug all the cords inside going to mother board. put all back in, and it seems to work for few days then the problems comes again.

how old is your machine? can you take it into your durable medical equipment provider? (i wouldn't tell them you took it apart, though
