Leakage and AHI

Post by Ganesha » Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:34 am

Hi All,

I have some newbie questions. Here's the scenario:

I am consistently geting a leak rate of 0.6 on my Swift LT.
My AHI has been OK, usually below 10 and often below 5.
When I wake up my mouth is very dry.

Does the high leak factor invalidate my AHI numbers?
Would mouth breathing account for high leaks and dry mouth?
If my AHI is low does it matter what the leak factor is?

Thanks,
Mark

There are far more qualified people here to answer this , but I am going to venture that Yes that would absolutely effect both. If it goes in through your nose and out your mouth, thats a leak and its going to dry out your mouth.

I am a chronic mouth breather, I wanted the swift so badly but it just wasn't possible, even with straps etc. I didn't try the tape.

A quick way to find out if you are mouth leaking is to buy a roll of tape from the store and tape your mouth for a week. Cheap and easy!
