Software and reader for Remstar pro 2 With cflex

Post by cpapguru38 » Sat Apr 11, 2009 9:58 pm

I'm new to all this still. I use a Remstar pro 2 with cflex it has a card in the side. I would like to know what software and card reader to get? Also, what info would this really provide? Is it well worth it?

Here's a link to the Encore Viewer software and reader package.

https://www.cpap.com/productpage-bundle.php?BundleID=64

Also, any version of Encore Pro from 1.4 through the current 1.8 will work (although it's not readily available to users anymore).

At the bottom of the link I listed, there are sample reports of what is generated.......leaks, snores, apneas, hypopneas, as well as compliance information.

Is it well worth it? Durned tootin' it is!!!

PS. The Pro 2 is the machine I started out with and is still one of my favorites. It tells me how my therapy is working.

Hey wulfman, Thanks again! I'm going to place an order for this bundle tomorrow.

Do they not make the Remstar pro 2 anymore? Is it a dated machine? I just got mine and was told it was only two weeks old, by a user who could not adapt. I wonder if I was lied too? I paid $300 for the unit. Seems to work fine, but if it is no longer for sale, then it has to be an old dinasor.

The Pro 2 hasn't been available since 2007......unfortunately. In your case, the owner may have only USED it for two weeks and then gave up. Did you get the heated humidifier with it....for the $300? Might have been a little high, but if it works, it's worth it. You can tell how many "blower hours" it has on it by looking into the LCD as you plug it in. There will be some "stuff" appear on the screen. One will be a number like 2.X (that is the firmware version and could be 2.5, 2.6, 2.7 or 2.8.) the other number that will momentarily appear is the total blower hours. The blower hours is the total time the machine was used and cannot be reset. The last number that will appear and will stay on the machine till you start it is the therapy hours. Once the machine starts, then the pressure setting will appear until it is turned off. The therapy hours CAN be reset.

I actually tried to purchase another Pro 2 in late 2007 but they were sold out at CPAP.COM and I had to "settle" for an Auto.....which I run in CPAP mode like my Pro 2. Within the last couple of months, I also purchased another REMstar Auto that had less than 11 total blower hours on it. I'll take the older Legacy models over the new M Series machines, anytime. Respironics still uses that same case design for some of their sophisticated Bi-PAP machines. I believe they made a huge mistake by discontinuing the Pro 2 and Auto in that style.

Wulfman,

Thanks again, you have been most helpful with all this! I checked my machine by unplugging it, first a #2 came on the screen, then the hour use meter which read 50 hours. BUT, The therapy hours meter which comes on next is 50.2 which is all me using the unit since I acquired it? I'm not sure how the unit can have more therapy time on it ( .2 hours) then the blower useage?

So either this guy who sold it to me figured out how to reset the timer, or I got a brand new, unused machine.

The blower hours can only be reset at the factory.
I can't explain the other discrepancy in the hours, but you've got a "new" machine.
