Snoring Question

Post by sleepisgood » Thu Apr 09, 2009 3:21 pm

After reading the chin strap thread, I have a question about snoring.

How bad is it, do you think? I'm feeling pretty good even though I'm sick, but my snores are averaging around 40/hour. Higher on nights when I was trying to find a mask that worked with being sick, much lower on nights when I'm not sick or futzing with a mask that needed a new replacement cushion. Over the last 2 weeks, even coughing and congested, my HI is 0.6 and my OAI is 0.4.

I still need to be better about getting more sleep, but I like those numbers for the sleep I get. Do I need to worry about how often I snore if I'm not obstructing?

Thanks for your thoughts!

If it were me, I'd try upping the pressure just a bit. .05 may be enough to do it.

Thanks.

I decided to (finally) go whole hog and give autopap a try.

I was on:
CPAP 13 (previously 15, I dropped myself to 13 about 6 weeks ago)
Ramp off
Cflex 3

I just set myself up for:
Mode Auto
Autoramp 12
Cflex 3
Auto Max 15
Auto Min 12
Auto Ramp 5 min
Split Night Time Off

I went with a start of 12 because 13 to 15 seems like a tight range, I don't want to go above what I know I tolerated (15) just yet, and sometimes starting at 13 is a bit abrupt.

Thoughts?

Thanks for letting me pick your (collective and symbolic) brains!

Brenda, you're either psychic or just a wise woman. I'm still stuffy and sick, and it's only been one night on Autopap, but my average was 13.7.

It's weird- I seem to have "sweet spots" with good results at 13 and 15, but crappy numbers at 14. I slept straight through and feel pretty good, even though my leak and AHI were higher than normal. I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out with more nights of data.

Thanks again!

Maybe a little of the first, but I'd definitely put her in the "wise" category.
