I’ve just returned from seeing technician after 48 days of the CPAP machine. It was amazing the amount of information collected by that card. I was commended on adapting it the machine and using it on a daily basis, even for naps. They seemed surprised that the number of episodes was only reduced from 28 to 13.5 per hour. I was surprised by this as well. They will probably raise the pressure from 8 to 10. They were also concerned about shallow breathing. I didn’t know about this or the episodes.
This might explain my disappointment after beginning to use the machine. I thought, possibly my expectations were too high. On longer drives I still almost fall asleep and have to be extra careful. Toward the end of the day I still get rather tired. I don’t believe that since using the machine I have ever awakened feeling well rested, relaxed and ready to conquer the world. I don’t ever expect to feel like a 22 year old again, however I would like to get, just a little bit closer.
Any thoughts or comments.

After 48 days
Re: After 48 days
LarryJay,
Congratulations on adjusting well to using the machine. I'm a bit curious - I clicked on the icon for your machine in your profile, and it is the Plus, which tracks compliance only. Did you change machines to one that records treatment data? (By the way, using the text option rather than icons makes it at-a-glance instead of clicking to go see.)
When the AHI is still high, raising the pressure a bit often helps, so hopefully that will be the case for you. Are you tracking your data at home? While it is best to stay with a change for a bit to get wider overview of its effectiveness, a several week wait to see the RT again seems to me a bit long to find out if it's working or not. Just my 2 cents.
Kathy

How's your leaks? Do you think you're mouth breathing? Have you tried another mask?
Never know, trying another mask might help. Check my signature block for some free mask test drives.
Good luck, buddy!!!!!
