AI and HI

Post by JoeFF » Wed Apr 01, 2009 5:58 am

I have a Respironics BiPap Auto with Bi-Flex and Smartcard machine, is there s way that I can see what my AI and HI nimbers are seperately without having to purchase the smartcard reader and software? The Therapy menu shows the AHI number, but I would like out find out what the seperate numbers are.
Thanks!

Have you stepped thru the "clinician's menu"? Do a search on Respironics clinician's menu for detailed instructions and there will probably be an option for displaying 7 and 30 day avg AHI/Leak info. Of course a smart card reader and software works on this machine as well.

SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.
Memory Foam Pillow - Cut my own out of my Tempur-pedic pillow. (works great!)
Hose Mgmt - Velcro Tie Strap

Yes, I have been through that as well and I so not see any place that the numbers are seperated. My AHi is averging around 12, but I feel absolutely wonderful compared to how I have felt for the last 3 years or so. I have only been on CPAP therapy for 3 weeks, but I felt the diffference after my first night. I could hardly make it through the day without falling asleep, but since I have been on CPAP I feel like a new man! It is great to have all of this energy again. But I keep reading that your AHi should be below 5, so I am concerned about my high number, that is why I would like to know the seperate numbers. I will probably break down and buy the reader and software one day, but I just spent a great deal of money on CPAP, between the sleep study, machine, and mask, it is not cheap, even with good insurance.

I don't have a Remstar Bipap. I have the Remstar M Series auto with A-Flex. I don't think there is a way to see, separately, the AI and HI on either machine.

The software and card reader, I believe, are needed to see those events separately.

You do want to get your AHI (the total of AI and HI) below 5 anyway.

Hopefully you can get the software and reader soon.

Hawthorne's correct. I have both machines. The LCD readout on a Respironics machine capable of showing "AHI" doesn't break it down into separate AI and HI. ResMed machines give that kind of breakdown in the little window, but Respironics machines don't. I've often thought that Respironics missed the boat LCD-info-wise by not doing that.

Right. And in that regard, Respironics did a very nice thing for cpap users when they created Encore Viewer software specifically for any end users who want to buy it.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I better start saving my pennies for the reader and software. I am not overly concerned with the numbers because I feel so good and rested, so something must be working right for me. But having said that I would like to get them under control if possible.
