nasal vs full face

Is it easier to relax with a full face mask versus a nasal mask. It seems to me the breathing is more relaxed with the full face mask

That varies from person to person.

I switched to a full-face (Mirage Quattro) from a Comfort Gel nasal, because I was tongue thrusting to prevent mouth breathing while asleep, not for comfort reasons. I never had any problems with the Quatttro. However, I accidentally broke one of the clips, and had to go back to the Comfort Gel for a night or two until I could get a replacement clip. I was surprised at how uncomfortable the nasal felt, versus that full-face. I definitely find the full-face feels less "intrusive".

I've used a full face mask since I started so I don't have anything to compare to, but for me, my full face mask is my "comfort zone" when I'm ready to go to sleep.

Comfort is certainly a personal preference. I tried quite a few nasal interfaces, and none was as comfortable to me as my UMFF mask.

I echo the sentiments here. I said to heck with mouth leaks, taping, and especially having so many problems with my stuffy nose. I love the ff mask.

If I could thought, I would love to use nasal pillows.

I too have only used FFMs. My pressure can get pretty high (20cm H2O) and with the right mask don't have any issues (not even the "Reindeer nose").

i'm new to cpap's, but know i could never use the nasal masks bec. of my allergies. if you breath well through your nose, i'd try the nasal mask first. i like the full face, but it leaks (and wakes me up) when i move my chin too much.

I was just not able to use a FFM for some reason, and I am not claustrophobic, and i deep sea dive so its not like i'm not used to having stuff all over my face, i just freaked out with that type of mask covering my face it was kinda weird. I also have gotten the same reaction in hospital when they put an O2 mask on me. I have been quite lucky in that my mouth breathing just stopped once i went onto cpap. its seems as though the force of the air coming out my mouth is enough to que me to keep my mouth shut, which I think my husband secretly enjoys.............

cheers

I've used both and do a lot better with the FFM ... I've found the Mirage Quattro to be the best of the lot that I've tried so far, and wouldn't go a night without it ...

I started with the Comfort Gel, then went to the Swift Lgt. nasal pillows. I mouth breath, so I tried the 2" blue painters tape (I felt like a hostage) then the Polident strips, chin strap, etc. Then a couple guys on here told me to get rid of the junk fixes and get a FFM. Which I did. And I love it. That tape and stuff works for a lot of people--but not me...Thanks, Larry...
