Smart Card reader, best price?

Post by rocketdork » Wed Mar 18, 2009 4:12 pm

I've been looking around the forum to find the best place to purchase a smart card reader...Many people mentioned a site in Hong Kong that sold the Mako Infineer DT-3500. It was called 2factors. Cost of the reader was $24 and shipping was $6...I can't find that site anymore.

So where is the best priced place to purchase? I need two, one for a friend, and one for me.

Thanks

Think 2 Factors is out of business. The best price that I know of is at:

http://www.securetech-corp.com/mako_dt.html

Be sure you get the USB model.

SecureTech is where I got mine. They were the best price at the time.

I TRIED to get CPAP-Supply to price-match, but they wouldn't (claimed it was an off-shore source!)

SecureTech shipped the same day I ordered. Being in CA, it took several days to get here (FL), but that's not their fault. I would definitely do business with them again.

Secure-Tech is very deceptive in their advertising. They have a nice price on their reader, but DO NOT bother to tell you they charge a $15 shipping fee, UNTIL after they have shipped the product. I do NOT recommend Secure-Tech due to their NOT being above board. Here is a link to a Hong Kong company that is NOT deceptive. They were shipping for a total price of $49.

I just ordered the Mako DT3500 from CPAP-Supply.com for $54 + $8.30 S&H. As much as I like CPAP.com I couldn't justify paying the extra $85 for basically the same device...and I was too lazy to call for a price match.

Sounds like the company out of Hong Kong is the way to go.

I'll have to talk to my DME prior to ordering, he mentioned to me that if he had had one in the office he would have just given it to me. They may have a better lower cost source that I can take advantage of.

DME's talk trash like that but rarely come thru.

Be sure to let us know.

I received my SC Reader today and it works great. You'll need to download the driver from the Mako website to make it work though...go to the website and download the driver before you hook up the reader. I'm using XP (SP3) so I can't help anyone with Vista.....

Take care,
Steve

I thought Windows would go out to internet to find the driver, if you let it. Mine was pretty much automatic.
