Smart Card Reader & more questions.....
Smart card readers. Any smart card reader will work? What about software to read the card? I don't remember any software coming with my CPAP a Respironics REMstar/pro. model: 1005961. By the way, I've been doing this for a few years. Is 11,115 hours alot on a CPAP machine? It's worked very well these years. How do I test it for the information on the LED on the unit. I know questions questions... thanks
Re: Smart Card Reader & more questions.....
Nope. One needs either the Respironics proprietary card reader or the Mako Infineer DT 3500. One also needs the Respironics proprietary software, either EncoreViewer (specifically for patients) or EncorePro (the professional version).
And the catch is: your Respironics Pro may well NOT be fully data capable, but ONLY compliance data capable. With the older RemStar "Legacy" series, often called "the tank" here, the Pro was NOT fully data capable, the Pro II was, but it HAD to be the Pro II. W/the Respironics M Series the Pro IS fully data capable.
At least this is my understanding. I'm a Resmed fan so NOT as well-versed on the Respironics tho I've owned two (as backups) and still own one (as a backup).

Re: Smart Card Reader & more questions.....
Yep.......what Slinky said. The older Legacy model Pro was not data-capable. The Pro 2 (which is data-capable) replaced it in late 2004 and the "plain" Pro was discontinued in April of 2005. I've seen some Legacy model REMstar Autos and Pro 2s for sale on CPAPAUCTION.COM lately (the Auto can also be used in CPAP mode) but if you want a newer machine, consider getting the REMstar M Series Pro or the M Series Auto (w/A-Flex). Both of those are data-capable.hodag wrote:Smart card readers. Any smart card reader will work? What about software to read the card?
