What are all the abbreviations?

Post by hodag » Sun Mar 15, 2009 12:17 am

Every topic I read here has tons of Abbreviations. What are they all for. Since I'm new here, I figure I would ask. Been using my CPAP machine for years and now am just learning I can check my setting on how the setting are. How about a total list so I can catch up. thanks.

Go up to the yellow bulb at the top of the forum page and click on it - there's a ton of information and a glossary of some kind to explain it all. A lot of what you're looking at might also be from someone's nightly data that the "smart card" in their machine 'read' into their computer, producing a report that gives statistics on various components of their sleep for that night (in terms of things like oxygen, whether or not their mask leaked and how much, whether they snored a lot, and how many apneas they experienced at what pressure setting, etc.). All that can look pretty technical but once you match up the abbreviation with the 'function' it's fairly routine stuff. And don't be afraid to ask about any individual thing you need answers to.

Also go to the post in announcements and read my first post there. As much as you are not a cpap newbie, you are new here and might need to see a bunch of the information in it.

Snoredog contributed a bunch of terms I have copied into that first post.

Also if you see a term in the post, look above the post and there a list of
CPAPopedia Keywords in it - you can click on those and get definitions.

Going to your other thread - As Den said, the Pro legacy series has a smart card but no good data. The Pro 2 legacy series has data. Check the name on the machine - the Pro 2 has the 2 in red on the top.

I'm kind of new around here also.
Where is this "announcements" section? I've looked all over and can't find any "announcements" section.
