Every night by the time I kiss her good night. She's usually wearing her full face mask & head gear. I tease her lovingly and call her my Little Top Gun Fighter Pilot. I never for get to tell her how beautiful & sexy she looks with her flying equipment on. In the morning I kiss her again & wish her good morning , then ask her How many planes she shot down last night!
All kidding aside I thank God every day that we found out about her sleep apnea condition in time. I praise & support her for her wearing it faithfully. We had recently learned a good friend of ours died from his condition. So make sure you you tell your spouse how much you love them & never for get to kiss them good night!
I don't know if she let me post a picture in the forum but it may be a fun thing to do . What do you say girls???
Thanks for letting me ramble on.

Sonofkong, your wife is very lucky to have such a supportive husband with such a good sense of humor. Hope her sense of humor is as good as your, if you do decide to post a picture of her all geared up!

Re: My wife the "Top Gun Beauty Queen"
I just want to state that in no way are we making light of my sleep apnea or anyone else's for that matter. The last "attack" I had that sent me for testing was a horrible experience that no one should have to go through. Little did I know, that the headaches I was also getting; the ones that would wake me up in the middle of the night (I fondly referred to as "screamers") were one of the major symptoms. I had been having these headaches for years and one doctor diagnosed it as severe tension! Since wearing the mask, the "screamers" have gone. Now, if I do have a headache, it is just a plain, old headache.
There was a slight adjustment period with the mask, but now it is second nature. The first few weeks I would wake up and it would be next to me. I was pulling it off in my sleep.
We have our little jokes; I always say , "Pilot to bombardier, pilot to bombarier" just before going to sleep. Anyone who has seen the Bugs Bunny cartoon will understand. I told my husband I want a name tag that says "Maverick" like in Top Gun, on the piece that goes across my forehead!
Every night he checks the machine to make sure it has enough water in the humidifier and he is always making sure that I have clean filters and all the parts are clean as well.
I have agreed to post a picture with my headgear, with some stipulations. I must have my hair done and makeup on!!!
I have a friend who's husband has a CPAP and she says the nights he is at work, she can't sleep. The sound of the machine lulls her to sleep.
CPAP has been a benefit to me and my husband in more ways you can imagine. We both are getting a good night's sleep as my horrid snoring isn't keeping him awake anymore and my gasping for air isn't waking us both out of a sound sleep scaring the daylights out of us!
Good luck to all CPAP wearers and the spouses who love them!

MR & MRS SONOFKONG,
YA'LL ARE SO SWEET! YOU 2 REMIND ME OF MY HUSBAND AND I--- I'VE BEEN CALLING HIM MY FIGHTER PILOT SINCE HE GOT HIS CPAP ABOUT 3 YRS AGO. I LOVE HIM W/ ALL MY HEART AND THANK GOD FOR HIS MACHINE!!
MY FIGHTER PILOT HAD A QUADRUPLE HEART PYPASS SURGERY IN JANUARY OF 2006 SOON AFTER HAVING TO SUDDENLY PULL OVER ON I-75 IN OUR SEMI TRUCK IN FLORIDA ONE DAY--HE WAS HAVING AWFUL CHEST PAINS, JUST OUT OF THE BLUE,HE PULLED OVER-GOT IN THE SLEEPER OF THE TRUCK-WITH TEARS LITERALLY STREAMIN' DOWN HIS FACE!!! I FELT SO UNBELIEVABLY HELPLESS AND TERRIFIED. I COULD DO NOTHING BUT PRAY AND TRY TO COMFORT HIM. HE WOULD NOT LET ME CALL 911--HE'S A SUPER-STUBBORD GA BOY---AND WE HAD NO INSURANCE. HE WAS A VERY PROUD AND HARD-HEADED 48 YR OLD MAN AT THE TIME---FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 25 TO 30 MINUTES LATER THE PAINS SUBSIDED AND MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING TO MIAMI WITH OUR LOAD OF SOD GRASS.
ABOUT 2 WKS LATER THE PAINS RETURNED AND I FINALLY GOT HIM TO GO TO THE ER AND HE HAD HAD A HEART ATTCK ACCORDING TO ALL THE TESTS. SO, SOON AFTER CAME THE SCARIEST DAY OF HIS AND MY LIFE, THE 6 HR QUAD- SURGERY. THE GOOD LORD SAW US BOTH THRU THIS ORDEAL--- BOY, YOU NEVER KNOW JUST HOW MUCH YOU DO LOVE SOMEONE UNTIL SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS.
THANKFULLY HIS SURGERY WAS SUCESSFUL AND BOTH THE SURGERY AND HIS CPAP HAVE TRULY BEEN A BLESSING!!!!
I LOVE TO FALL ASLEEP BESIDE MY FIGHTER PILOT EVERY NIGHT TO THE LULLING SOUND OF HIS CPAP.
I JUST FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND THOUGHY YA'LL WERE ADORABLE AND FAMILIAR.
JUST WANTED TO SAY HEY AND BEST OF LUCK TO YA'LL!!!

Re: My wife the "Top Gun Beauty Queen"
Well, good luck to both of you and keep up the good attitudes. Not everyone is as lucky as you are! SA is serious business and the drop out rate is quite high due to a number of very dumb reasons, not the least of which is the sleep study came up with the wrong number and their apneas went untreated for months and months! Keep us posted on the forum of your progress and you will find many wonderful people here willing to help with any questions or support.
