Home Polysomnograph?

Post by gobears » Fri Mar 13, 2009 11:12 am

I currently have a finger pulse oximeter, and have learned alot checking the data. What I would really like to have is a home polysomnograph, to monitor the stages of sleep and number of arousals. Does anyone know of such products that are available for home use?

The type of information you're asking about would be way to complex to determine without all the wires and equipment being attached to a person like is done in a sleep lab. That's not to say that it may not happen some day (like pulse-oximetry), but it ain't there yet.
With a data-capable CPAP/APAP/Bi-Level, some of the data (desaturations and apnea/hypopnea events) can possibly be matched up with a recoding pulse-oximeter, but the sleep stages and some of the rest of it aren't really definable without sophisticated equipment.
