Rainout Hugh???

Post by caffeine please » Fri Mar 06, 2009 2:36 pm

Hi everyone!! Here is the scoop. I now use a nasal mask/seal my mouth with dentigrip gel (works great) and have insulated my hose. I have a 10 ft hose or maybe 12, (I forgot). Part is covered by the respironics hose wrap and the remainder is covered with fleece that I fashioned myself. I started getting rain out with a higher humidity setting and now put it to 0 just to see the effect and rainout woke me again last night. Any ideas??

1) Make sure you thoroughly dry out your hose before use. You might need to hang it during the day to ensure that small amounts of condensation dry before nightfall. You might even need to put it near (not on) a heat source to speed this process.

2) Make sure your machine is below your head. This will help the condensation roll back toward the machine, instead of up to you.

3) Contemplate raising your bedroom's ambient air temperature. I turn on a space heater before bed, then close the bedroom door, then shut the heater off when I turn for sleep. This helps on the coldest nights.

4) Maybe you need a better hose cover. I recently discovered that Padacheek's hose cover is actually three layers! I'm so excited I bought one to try: http://www.padacheek.com

Good luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)
