Probably a repeat question but...

Post by Joffive » Wed Mar 04, 2009 10:00 am

Hi all,
It's been a long time since I've been here, nice to see some familiar folks and also some not-so-familiar ones too! I've been doing fine with the cpap (such as it is), but I have a neighbor who is starting to fear for his life and health after many years of non-compliance. He has asked for my help (he has no computer) in getting compliant. I first asked for his machine info. It's a Fisher Paykel sleepstyle 200. Am I reading right that there is no ahi data, leak data, etc. for him to retrieve from his lcd on this machine? Please lead me to any threads which I may have missed in my search for something to help him with regarding taking his care into his own hands... I am glad I found this forum early on in my own treatment. It saved my sanity....
Thanks all and forgive me if I've brought up a long dead subject...

Bumping this for Wulfman or Rested Gal, who are my go-to's for machine info.

Sorry! Wish I knew the answer!

Good for you for helping out!!!!!

As far as I know the Fisher Paykel 200 has no data to retrieve. Maybe compliance is available. That's really no help. Fisher PayKel has just come out with their first data capable machine ever so their older machines give no really useful information, if any.

Someone may know something else about it but, at least I gave your post another bump!

Sounds like he just has a straight blower. Is it old enough that his insurance will fund another machine with reporting capabilities? Or perhaps another sleep study?

If he was a REALLY good friend, I would figure out how to change his machine to my titrated pressure and I would put him on mine for a week and check his data every morning to see if his titrated pressure was doing him any good.

Good to see you again, Joffive, and good to see that you're trying to help a friend.

Right. There'll be no useful data whatsover from that machine.

id watch craigslist or cpapauction.com for an auto, set it on 6-20 and adjust his pressure from there.

Not a data-capable machine, but the information in the following link should work to adjust settings if need be.

Thanks!

Thanks folks,
I think that's a good idea...trading machines for a bit. I am going to push to do that. This neighbor is having many of the problems associated with untreated sleep apnea. He's getting scared now. The info on changing pressures will be helpful since we'll probably need to do that for me to use it in the first place.
Not what I had hoped to find out about the machine, but some great advice and help. Thank you all so much!
Jean

You rock, Jean! Let us know if we can help in any other way. There are several Mask Test Drives being run now, and maybe your neighbor might be interested. You can try a mask for the cost of postage, before deciding to buy.

Update... Probably a repeat question but...

Post by Joffive » Wed May 06, 2009 5:44 pm

Hello again all,
My neighbor has been using my CPAp (and I his) and is getting better results than me. His pressure had been set at 8 and he needed 9.6....Now, how to pry it from his hands?
Thanks again!
Jean
