Feel discouraged/ a set back?

Post by hope2sleep » Tue Feb 24, 2009 8:34 pm

I went for my first follow up visit last week. Have been using the c-pap since the begining of Jan.

When my sleep lady read the information my machine had recorded, it showed that I had a lot of air leaks. The only time I felt any was when I layed on my back ~ mostly I sleep on my sides. The rest of the time, I didn't feel any. I was suprised. Thought I had been doing good. I was getting used to it and didn't miss a night. While I didn't feel all energized and wonderful ( have read here that sometimes it takes weeks or months to begin feeling like that) I felt a little better ~ sort of looked forward to each day and thinking ~ what can I get done today. At my follow up visit, she tightened my mask. It is now uncomfortable, almost painful on my face. I loosened it a little bit but not much ~ I didn't want to be "non-compliant". So, I shouldn't be getting any air leaks now ~ it is so tight on my face, I don't see how it would be possible. But I feel like I am not feeling as good as I had. Wake up feeling tired, get tired in the daytime and evening. I hate to go to bed early on my night off. I ended up falling alseep in the chair last night, then couldn't go to sleep when I woke up and went to bed.

Am I going through a period of adjustment again? I just want to feel better.

Thank you for reading.

I rarely have to use a FF mask but when I do the Quattro is my mask of choice. It can be worn loosely and the air puffs out the plastic mask cushion to create a seal. If this mask is worn tight on the face it takes away the possibility of seal since the cushion is flattened.

Do you think by wearing the mask tightly to your face, you may be reducing the mask's ability to provide a seal?
