This is a three-part question:
1) Is it possible to verify the blower motor lifetime hours on the Remstar Auto CPAP with C-Flex ‘tank’ model? I'm guessing that accumulated blower hours are available in one of the maintenance mode screens?
2) If so, what is the key sequence to accomplish this? If this is doable, it's presumably the same procedure as for a 'Pro' model?
3) Is it possible for an unscrupulous seller to reset the motor hours to zero (although I can’t imagine that a fellow CPAP user would do such a thing)?
I'm considering purchasing a used Remstar ‘Tank’ model and would rather NOT end up with a 'well used' one.

They will be visible in the LCD screen anytime you plug in the machine. There will also be another number that is the Firmware level.....probably 2.X (2.5, 2.6, 2.7, or 2.8 .)
2) If so, what is the key sequence to accomplish this? If this is doable, it's presumably the same procedure as for a 'Pro' model?
You won't need it to see the blower hours, but to get into the Setup, hold the two gray buttons < > underneath the LCD screen as you plug it in. Continue to hold them till you hear a couple of beeps.....about 5 sec.

The blower hours can ONLY be reset at the factory and (probably) only by installing a new PCA board (motherboard).

I understand. However, I purchased one in 2006 that had a little over 1700 hours on it and it's still going strong. It now has well over 5000 hrs. on it.

However, As Den says, that gives you total blower hours, after a little while the screen then shows you the patient use hours, that can be reset. So make sure you are seeing what you want. As far as lifetime of the unit, that bis controlled by fate, luck of the draw, and the care the machine is given. Five minutes to over 10,000 hours are possible, I have a "Classic Tank" that's over 7800 hours and working well. I would say the Classic, tends to be more trouble free than it's replacement. Re: Checking Blower Motor Hours on Remstar ‘Tank’ Model?
Thanks everyone.
Although I have very limited experience using the 'Classic Tank', I recall really liking the loaner I used for a few daya. In fact, I agonized about whether to start my CPAP therapy journey with the 'Classic Tank' or with the newer M Series that came out about the time I purchased my first APAP. In the end, I blindly went with 'newer must be better', although this is frequently not the case.
Now, I'm thinking about getting a 'slightly used' tank model for eveyday use and relegating my M Series as a travel machine.

Re: Checking Blower Motor Hours on Remstar ‘Tank’ Model?
My Remstar Pro make it to 12,712 hours and then got the locked motor error. Found a similar Plus model with 2.6 hours for $125 and put the Pro to the side.
4-6 years can be expected but as stated being a machine one never knows.

Re: Checking Blower Motor Hours on Remstar ‘Tank’ Model?
It’s encouraging to hear that you got about 4.5 years of use from your Pro. I’d be happy with that, although for a piece of medical equipment I’d sure like to see 5-7 years with say 6 years (approx 17520 hours) as the average.
I see there’s an ongoing thread about this very topic:
