weight gain

Post by Gerryk » Fri Feb 20, 2009 9:06 pm

I started on BiPap in November of 08. I quit smoking the june before that. I was doing very good only gained a few pounds until I got on the cpap. I was about 180 and I jumped up to 240. About three weeks ago I started to watch what I was eating, trying to only eat healthy foods and cutting my portions down and not going back for seconds. I started back on a regular exercise program almost two weeks ago just doing aerobics no weight lifting. I lost about ten pounds but have been stuck here for almost a week.

Is this normal to gain weight like this at first when you finally begine successful treatment with cpap?

I was diagnosed with SA four years ago and was unsuccessfully treated with cpap then and quit.

Thanks
Gerry

I also gained quite a bit of weight when I first started on CPAP(45 lbs). PreCPAP after working 12 hour shifts...I was exhausted and would go to sleep...no dinner. Enter CPAP...more energy...I ate dinner every night; no more afternoon naps...endless snacking instead. Good for you...exercising and watching your portion sizes. Steps in the right direction!
