AHI - Low numbers, but would clusters cause problems?

Post by Debjax » Thu Feb 19, 2009 9:25 pm

Wondering....The AHI is reasonable, 2.3 last night, with apneas at .4. Felt crappy this morning, tired in the am for the first time in over a month. Even though the apena was at .4, there were 3 within the space of about 40 minutes, with 8-10 hypopneas in the same time frame....got me to wondering...

If the numbers are low, but the events are clustered...does that make a difference?

Does your software show the average length of time in apnea?

Debjax was asking about AH in clusters, but I was wondering if her software showed the average amount of time she spent in apneas. If it did, I was wondering what that was for her. I don't know anything about the Rescan software since I have EncorePro.

I would take your results to your doctor and ask him your questions about the numbers and how you feel.

If you have James Skinners add-on program it does a fine job of it.

I will be asking the doctor about it when we go to hubby's followup this month...but was curious if clusters should be taken into account...
The AHI is based on the number of ours on the machine that session, but if they all happen within one hour....
I don't have many apneas, MAYBE one or two in a night, but most nights no apneas...but I've averaged alot of hypopnea clusters. The numbers are about the same as they were on the M Series, so I don't think it's the ResMed boosting those numbers. Interestingly enough, I had 3 hypopneas (apparently ) while still awake last night....

Anything scored when you are not doing automomous sleep breathing is meaningless.

Cheers,
