I started using cpap 2 weeks ago. The information on this board has been very very helpful.
My Dr. recommended a RemStar Pro, which seems like a good choice from what I read here.
I'm considering buying the software. How much value does the software add over just reading the AHI and system leak from the machine each day?
My Dr. says the AHI reported by the machine is not very accurate and I should not pay much attention to it. Comments?
I'm getting a leak rate just under 40 and AHI between 2 and 2.5. I've read in other posts that AHI under 5 is OK. I'm not sure about leaks. Is 37-40 OK? My pressure is 9.
Thanks,
-David

Re: ahi, leaks and software
Hi David,
The added value of the software is in troubleshooting - when things aren't going too well, and you don't really know why. At that point, the software shows you what happened when - for example, a large concentration of events coming within a short time is different from an occasional event every hour - yet it could look the same on the LCD. And while the accuracy is not perfect, the data not that badly out of synch with what really happens.
Mask leaks are affected by the mask, and by your pressure. You'll find graph showing you expected "vent flow rate" in your mask's documentation. And here too:

As you can see there, 40 for the Mirage Activa at 9 is somewhat high.
If you're feeling good, you don't have to buy the software just now. But its informative - and fun.
