Last night I had trouble getting to sleep and I laid in bed wide awake for about two hours. While I was laying there I decided to check my data and my AHI was really high. In the mornings I'm usually around 4 or 5. When I check it in the middle of the night it was around 30! When I did wake up this morning it was back down to 6 which is still a little high for me.
Does any one know why my numbers would have spiked like that in the middle of the night? Is that normal in the way Resmeds collect data? This has happened to me one other time.
Really high numbers in the middle of the night
Re: Really high numbers in the middle of the night
All automatic machines base their event reports on analysing the rather stable patterns of sleep. Your breathing pattern when you're awake is anything but stable - and the machine's analysis is thrown way way off. Any data for when you're awake is meaningless, and should be discounted.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

As Ozij says, you can't rely on data gathered while asleep. Any movement (which usually alters your respiration depth & rate) is likely to skew what the machine is sensing.
