Victory!

Post by Chewtoy » Thu Feb 05, 2009 2:15 pm

Well, I fired my first DME company today. They continued insisting that the M Series Plus machine had full data capabilities, so I brought them a card with two nights worth of data to download. "Show me."

And their story changed to "That's all your dr wanted you to have."

So I fired them, and called another company from the insurance's list. "Well, we don't have any Pro machines, but the M Series Auto bills at the same rate and we have plenty of them in stock."

Really?

No arguing?

Just like that?

Just like that.

Great! You taking that card so they could "show you" the data was certainly the clincher! Others should try that! They could end up with an even better machine --as you did! Nice going!

Another stall tactic, I think I mentioned that once already. They are trying to wear you down, so you WILL give in and take whatever they claim to have, prob a used machine too.

Congrats Chewtoy -

I'm not sure. I assume they don't, since they're called Austin Oxy-Med, but they might be affiliated with a larger company. If you want to call and check their phone number is 512-834-8900.

The RT and staff there were very knowledgeable and helpful, and the whole experience was quite pleasant.

Congrats Chewtoy and Hello fellow Central Texan! Don't you feel lucky this time of year when you hear about all the ice in other parts of the country? If only we could get some rain (although it might not be quite as dry where you are as where I am).

I'll keep your DME in mind in case I ever find a need a machine other than ResMed (since I'm fairly certain my DME only deals in ResMed). Is it on N Lamar in Austin?

Are you happy with your doc? I'm going to see how it goes switching from my ENT to my Allergist/Pulmonologist. They're in the same medical group, so it will be an easy switch. I think it will go very well and I will be very happy. My allergist and I go way back and he's a GREAT doc. So if you ever think you need to find a new doc, if all goes well with my doc, I could make a recommendation. He's in North Austin.

Gail

Wow, Chewtoy. That's good to hear!!

If you'd like to have the Provider manual for your new machine, PM me your email address, and I'll be glad to send it to you. Also, let me know if the machine has the word "A-flex" written on top of the machine, or not.
