Air in my mouth

Post by reecemj » Wed Feb 04, 2009 7:04 pm

Hello I use the remstar\plus and the miraga active mask. I have us this system on and off for a couple of years. My problem is through out the night I fill air rolling in my mouth and I wake up many times. I don't think i need to tape my mouth because the air is coming from the inside. Can y'all help me..Thanks...

Ps. How do i post a picture of my system in my post?

well, if you wear a full face mask you wont have the pressure differential between your mouth and nose and your mouth won't fill with air. When I switched, I would wake up and not be sure I was under pressure with the full face mask.

Just a thought.

Hello & Welcome, reecemj! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!

I agree with elader—a full face mask should help. I can't use nasal masks for this reason, had the same experience. To post a picture of your equipment, just to to the "User Control Panel" where you will find options to set up your profile including the equipment you use. Good luck!

Yes, you do need to tape BECAUSE the air is coming from the inside. The pressurized air from your CPAP is supposed to be going down your airways, not out of your mouth. That is a HUGE and significant leak and you need to fix it or else your CPAP therapy is pointless.

It's time for tape or a full face mask.

YOu can also try a chinstrap to keep your jaw up and hopefully redirect air to the correct pathway - down your airway.
