Hi,
I'm new here and I'm enjoying learning from you guys and gals. I have my sleep study next Monday. How long does it take to get your follow up sleep study with the cpap machine at the sleep study center and then how long to get the equipment. I sure the time varies but what is the average?

It took several weeks. I think 3. I was NOT happy about waiting!

I also had to wait with my last study to get retritated. I did call and rush them along. I have serious sleep apnea and reminded them that I really NEED to be able to breathe!

Macoil,
my doctor calls daily
Are you serious?? I saw my sleep doctor, who is also my pulmonologist, about 3 weeks after my titration. He said, "have you had your sleep study yet??" I said, "yeah, I've been on CPAP 2 weeks now....YOU ORDERED IT!"

Despite that, somehow I really get the impression that the guy really does care. Go figure!

It took 3 weeks from the time my doctor told me to get a sleep study until I could finally get in for my first one.

A week and a half went by before I received a call from my doctor (actually from his nurse/assistant) telling me they had gotten the results from my study and I now needed to get a titration study performed.

When I called the original place to schedule the titration study, they told me that the earliest they could schedule me was another month and a half!!!

Since the appointment was 2 days ago, I'm now wondering how long it will take them to get the results to my doctor. I told them to send a copy of the report directly to me, but I don't have much hope of them actually following my wishes (I'm only the one paying the bill after all! <grin>).

Oh yeah, when I finally managed to get a copy of the original sleep study, and researched the numbers for myself, imagine my surprise to discover that my numbers, AHI=133 and O2=61%, were actually life-threatening (at no point in this process has an actual person told me that I could die from this)!?!? As slowly as all of the professionals have been moving, you would have thought I had a mild case and was simply overreacting.

Fortunately, after doing a great deal of reading on my own (here and elsewhere on the web), I was able to talk my doc into prescribing an AutoPAP (with C-Flex, naturally! <grin>) as soon as I realized the delay I would have before the titration study.

It is a sad but true fact that it is your health, no one is going to be as concerned about it as you...

Sick and Tired,

I can't believe they didn't put on a CPAP that night with your O2 level at 61. mine went to 81 and they were thisclose to putting it on me.

I truly does suck on how long it takes. It took about a month between s1st meeting with the pulmonologist, having the first test, going back for second with mask, waiting for the results meeting with the doc and finally getting a machine.

I waited 4 weeks to get into the sleep clinic, then another 10 days for an over-the-phone diagnosis which led to another 3-week wait for a second sleep study. After that, it was 10 more days for the final diagnosis and prescription, then another week until the DME could deliver the machine.

Now that I review this timeline, I realize that, while I've been on CPAP therapy for 7 weeks now, I've really been in the OSA pipeline for 4-1/2 months! Yikes!
