Well, it would appear that I have invested in a machine that is "entry-level" (REMstar M Series Basic) and does not have a sophistocated monitoring system. I can't return it since I bought it (I already called about this) and I can't afford to buy a second machine at full price since the insurance isn't going to cover any part of a second machine.
I had a full-night titration so I'm hoping that was sufficient to get a correct pressure reading (mine is . I thought that was the point of my spending a second night at the sleep center. Assuming I wear the mask all night without major leakage can I assume I am getting the proper therapy?
Can I continue without data?

DS100?
If the pressure determination was correct, you can get good therapy with the machine. However, as you have discovered, you can not monitor anything.

Re: Can I continue without data?
Jason you seem to have just posted bits'n'pieces. Did insurance pay for this machine? Or did you pay 100%.Jason S. wrote:Well, it would appear that I have invested in a machine that is "entry-level" (REMstar M Series Basic) and does not have a sophistocated monitoring system. Many times Insurance has clauses that the DME will supply another machine if the one provided doesn't work out. There may be a time limit.
What about having your doc script a data machine?
It's so hard to give any advise without more info. You already called who? Your ins?

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Can I continue without data?
If you tolerate the machine and you feel better, you can fly by the seat of your pants! If you run into difficulty the data would be helpful.
It sounds like you are making good progress.

Re: Can I continue without data?
I'm where you are too, and I've been here for a little over two years. I don't know but I would guess that there are legions of us out here. If you didn't find this forum before all of the sleep study/DME stuff, you wouldn't know. I can honestly say, I've done well though. I rest well and feel great, I was walking dead prior to CPAP. I am now at the point where I am wanting to get a new machine and when I do it will be one that records data.
Re: Can I continue without data?
I went 17,000 hours with machines that couldn't capture data. I was pretty satisfied until the last 6 months.
I will say that it is interesting to look at the data from a data capable machine. You have to be careful with too much data.
I would wait the three years or whatever your insurance allows for a replacement and then get a data capable machine.
My insurance provider says that whatever is medically necessary they will cover be it a replacement mask or whatever. It doesn't always have to be at prescribed intervals.

Re: Can I continue without data?
Sorry. I went to appointment with Sleep Med (what others refer to as DME?). They sold me a machine. At that time, I didn't know about various levels of machines and that some had data etc. I paid $170 of $1700 (or 10%), which I was happy about. That included, humidifier, mask, filters etc. I think I get replacement every three months for the mask, filters and hose. I have Blue Cross-Blue Shield but this is an out-of-plan provider so they cover 75%? I'm not sure why they covered 90% of the original (I never can figure out how my health plans determine payment) I wanted to buy it then because it was mid-December and if I waited until January 2009 I would have to meet a $500 deductible which had already been met for 2008.
So I'm not unhappy with my machine. Last night I had good mask karma again. Stayed on one side the entire night, I believe. Woke up maybe 5-7 times for repositioning. This just involves lifting the mask and setting it back on my face to reseal. I have a full-face mask. Felt good this morning. Guess I'll keep on with this protocol and perhaps upgrade my machine at some later time in the future. Thanks.

Re: Can I continue without data?
I've been on the machine for 6 months and my doctor says I'd likely be on it for years, so thats why he told me to get the no data machine. I see him next in June, so I'll see what happens
