New to all of this

Post by spring » Sat Jul 23, 2005 4:13 pm

This is my first time to post. I just received my C-pap on Wednesday. I can't say everything is perfect but I will learn to tolerate whatever I have to. I must continue the treatment. In my first sleep study my ox went down to 60%. I had 119 events of either apnea or hypoventalation. I usually get up 2-5 times a night . Go to the bathroom and read a little and then try to go back to sleep. My first night I was up once. Last night I was up twice. The pressure is a little hard to get used to . My pressure is 4-14. I have recently be diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension believed caused by sleep apnea. I also have coronary heart disease and two leaky heart valves. That all. I still feel very fortunate. I have survived breast cancer for 12 years. I am a female 68 years old and at least 45 pounds overweight. Maybe with more energy I can become more active if I am not too short of breath. Thanks for the information. I will be watching the message boards. I also watch the PH message boards.

Hi 'spring'

Welcome to the CPAP club. Lets hope you are able to make the best of your new partnership.

What type of machine did you get (obviously an Auto) ?

What type of mask ?

Cheers

Spring, it sounds like you've bounced back more than once before. I'm sure that given a little time you will find that CPAP starts to address many of those other issue little by little. Good luck, and make sure you don't stop asking questions!! That's what this site is all about.

As for getting a pic by your name - no idea - ask RestedGal - she'll know!

Welcome, Spring. Keep using that machine!!! It will definitely eventually work and give you more energy and then, with your doctor's "okay," you can start exercising and getting that healthy feeling back. You are still a "spring" chicken at 68 nowadays and thank goodness you are getting the help you need. Best of luck to you. Keep posting for support.

At the top of this (and every) page is a button labelled "Profile". Click that. Then at the bottom of the profile is a section for uploading your avatar image.

Make sure you have a picture on your computer that you want to use that is no bigger than 80x80 pixels. I found a photo of my with one of my 2 Miatas that I cropped down to just my upper body, then resized what was left.

I hope this helps. (See, I told you people I was a geek.)

Lori, you're too kind; appearances can be decieving. And you may be confusing geekiness with nerdiness (is that a word?).

I am definately not a nerd!

WAF,
STOP! You look neither nerdy OR geeky. Trust me, I was a very fussy girl in my day. The guys most girls thought were gorgeous, I'd say, "EWWWWW!!!!"
From that photo and what my 48-year-old eyes can see, you look just fine in my book! Don't sell yourself short!!!

SC:
How are you???? How are things going with the old Breeze? Are you still having a good time with it? Please tell me some positive comments. I was thinking about you this morning and was hoping all went well with it again last night. But you are on a different time schedule than we are here in the US. Did you have a second night yet? Am I being totally dumb here? I am on an adrenaline high this morning from my success with the Swift and new Remstar Auto with CFlex, so you have to forgive my flighty demeanor. Well, you don't have to, but I'd appreciate it. Not as on target as I might be on other days, but am enjoying it while it lasts.
Let me know how things are going, please!!!!
PS: Come on, you have to agree WAF doesn't look either nerdy or geeky, right??? I know, you're a man and won't answer that question (LOL).

Lori, you're going to make my wife of 23 years jealous if you keep that up. OTOH, she says similar things to me.

Now, what was the topic under discussion again? (I have this habit of inciting topic drift in every forum I participate in. Sorry.)

Oh my goodness - talk about being on a high!

I have no comment to make about WAFlowers except to say that on that picture which he himself admits is doctored - his belly sure looks a lot flatter than mine (envy envy)!!!

As for the breeze, its 5:54 pm and I won't be going to bed for a while yet - but I promise I'll give you my report card in the morning miss - should I bring you an apple as well?

I am really thrilled to hear how well the new machine and the new mask are going - and as for your solution to the 'elvis sideburns' it sounds like the same solution that the poor comfort curve people are using - somewhat more difficult for men to move forward with than women!

Anyway, you have have APAP, and APAP rules!!

Go out and celebrate - you're one step nearer to being normal (please don't misunderstand that, I just mean having enough sleep not anything else!!!!)
