S8 Autoset II keeps shutting down/restarting

My new S8 Autoset II is giving me fits. In an earlier post, I mentioned that the pressure ave. was 5.0 and no events were logged for the first 2 nights.

Well, it appears that my machine is continually shutting down and restarting throughout the night. Evidently, it's staying in "settling" (ramp) mode, since it's set to start there for 20 minutes. That would explain the low pressure stats. And, I'm told the machine doesn't respond to events when it's in the settling mode, so I'm not getting any therapy.

It's not the power supply because this has now happened at home and my cottage. Last night, when it happened again, I just took the mask off and shut the machine down. There's no sense fighting all night with it in this situation, especially since it's not responding to events.

I'll be calling my DME tomorrow, but I wanted to post here in case someone else is familiar with the situation.

PS: I might add that the machine shut down and restarted when the tech was showing me how to access the data. She said it was because there was an electric heater on the same circuit in her office. That made sense at the time, but based on my experiences at home(s), I think it's a defective unit.

Funny you should mention it. My unit has shut off on me three times but I can always hit the restart button and then I don't have further problems that nihjt. It usually occurs at the end of the settling time.

Is "Smart Start" enabled or disabled? If it's enabled, you may be having large leaks which are telling the machine to shut itself off.

I'm not that familiar with the ResMeds, but I do have a manual for the Vantage.....and if it works like the Respironics' "Auto Off" feature, that would be my suspicion and the first place to look.

If you have the Hi humidifier attached and the top clear lid is not snapped shut it will give you those same on and off starts. Make sure the lid actually snaps closed. Just a guess. It happend to be.
