another success story

Post by PlainScout1951 » Sun Jan 18, 2009 12:41 pm

I just wanted to post another success story to encourage those newbies struggling as I did. I started the journey back in October and had a terrible time of it. I just could not sleep on the damn mask at all until I finally called the Doc and insisted on a sleeping pill. That led to a script for Ambien which is wonderful stuff. After a month of that I switched to over the counter sleep aids including melatonin and am doing great now. I sleep like a baby now and dream all the time. I rarely have to rise in the night for restroom use, unlike before. I had envisioned in my mind the goal that the mask would become a beloved companion that gave me sweet sleep and no longer the cursed mask from hell that I was fighting with every night. Thanks to this forum for all the tips that help and the encouragement to continue by hearing from you all that success can be right around the corner.
BTW the machine I have is not specifically listed on the profile choices. It's a ResMed Escape 2. I have the ResMed Escape shown which is a previous model.

I'm a success story, too. I started using the CPAP 4 yrs ago this summer.....under durress!!!! I didn't believe I had a problem until the doctor showed me that I aroused 100 times an HOUR!!!! Okay -- a little adjustment time - not much ---- and now when I go to bed, I give DH a hug, a kiss and curl up with my mask....and all is well (hey, I just realized --the emoticons don't have a SLEEPING guy!!!!!!!)
Machine: ResMed Elite S8
Mask: Swift
Humidifier: Humidaire 3i
Software: None - I sleep good!
