Hi All,
I'm new to this site but not to sleep apnea and C-PAP. I have been using the C-PAP for about 5 years with no major problems, but have been noticing lately that I'm starting to wake more often during the night and am having some trouble staying awake during the day. I'm thinking that if I can increase the pressure(am currently at 14) that might help me stay asleep during the night so that I'm well rested and awake during the day. Any help would be appreciated. I am using the RemStarPlus M-Series with C-Flex. Thanks for your help.

Re: changing pressure settings
What are your AHI, AI and HI numbers? It looks like you are already at a relatively high pressure. In some cases too high pressure can cause you mouth leaks as well.

This link will allow you to download the Setup instruction card that was probably removed from your equipment.

However, as was previously mentioned, make sure you're not leaking your therapy air out of your mouth while you're sleeping. If you wake up with a dry mouth, that would be a clue. If you ARE leaking your therapy air, increasing the pressure will only cause more air to escape and won't solve your problem.

PS. I also saw your post on the ASAA forum. We like to think we're more helpful than they are.

Re: changing pressure settings
To be honest I really don't know. I'm don't even know what the abreviations stand for. After having a sleep study done about 5 years ago I was told that I had sleep apnea and needed a C-Pap, was given the name of the local medical supply company to call. I went and picked it up was given instructions on how to use it and other than the hourly readings they needed for the first 3-4 months that was all I was told. I didn't even know I could get new supplies every 6 months until the first nasal mask I used got so hard I called them. I'm feeling pretty dumb right about now.darotem wrote:What are your AHI, AI and HI numbers? It looks like you are already at a relatively high pressure. Here are the definitions as defined in my machine's user manual:
APNEA = A decrease in airflow of 75% or higher for 10 seconds or greater.
HYPOPNEA =>50% to 75% decrease in airflow for 10 seconds or greater .
APNEA/HYPOPNEA INDEX (AHI) = apnea plus (+) HYPOPNEA/hour of sleep.
AHI Scale =<5 events /hour = (none); 5-15 events/hour = (mild); 15-30 events/hour = (moderate); >30 events/hour = (severe).
Hope it helps.

NO! Your not dumb, asking questions is never dumb. There are people on this board that can answer any question you have and maybe more.lreic31287 wrote: I'm feeling pretty dumb right about now.
I was (5) plus years in the dark about my treatment also, until I found this place. Knowledge is power!

Looks like the "thedean" is also a member of the grammar police.
