Not sure what medicare advantage is but I am on medicare as my primary insurance with BCBS as a secondary. Medicare told me no when I asked about buying from cpap.com. Lots of times I buy from cpap.com and pay out of pocket, it is often easier than fighting with my DME. The best way to find out is to ask your insurance provider. Some have been able to get reimbursed from their insurance but it seems to be an individual thing.

Ask them if there's any way it could be done.....and then report back to us. If there IS, lots of people would like to know how.

I'm not THERE yet.....gonna be a few more years, but I've purchased almost all of my equipment out-of-pocket (with the exception of my first machine/mask, etc., for which my insurance reimbursed me)......and I think I'm pretty well stocked up for my Medicare years.

Do you accept Medicare?

No, we do not accept Medicare assignment and have no relationship with them.

Will my insurance company reimburse my online cash purchase?

Yes, in most cases. However, reimbursement is an agreement between you and your insurance company. If you are planning on attempting to collect reimbursement, be sure to check with your insurance company first!

https://www.cpap.com is a cash based, high volume, direct to patient business model. We avoid dealing directly with insurance companies and pass the resulting savings to our customers.

However, we do provide our customers with an insurance compliant, itemized invoice that contains applicable insurance billing code(s) for each item purchased.

What has become of billmyinsurance.com and cpapforseniors.com???

Is there anyone still taking part in the forum who purchased equipment thru cpapforseniors?

How about billmyinsurance?

Can you tell us how they worked for you? Especially cpapforseniors. Maybe something can be done as our government tries to revitalize and improve health care access and quality. (Gawd, but that scares the h*lll outta me! The government involved in health care!!!! Or should I say MORE involved?)

As for changes to come in health care, be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

As for cpapforseniors.com, the site says it is a "sister website" of cpap.com.--http://www.cpapforseniors.com/reasons-to-enroll.php

The system is broken, no doubt. Could get worse. Could get better. Could stay the same. I know I'm not smart enough to fix it. So, like they say, hope for the best, expect the worst!

beckyboo,
Medicare Advantage works similar to an HMO plan where they have selected providers that they have contracted with to provide services, equipment, etc. You would need to call your Medicare Advantage plan number and ask them if CPAP.com is on the list. If they are not, they will not reimburse you.

Received my supplies from cpapforseniors for several years. About two years ago they informed me that they could no longer deal with me due to where I lived. Seems that they didn't have their card punched for my state, or some such thing.

When you get anything through a third party payer, be it government or insurance company bureaucracy you can expect that whatever you get will be more expensive and/or of poorer quality than what a truly free market can provide.

I remember there were several members from several different states that got that letter from cpapforseniors.com, that' why I wondered if they were still in business. Thanks for that info, Nosbig.

According to the web registry http://www.cpapforseniors.com is owned by the CPAP.com folks so It probably is a related although separate business. It would be good for Johnny to tell us his preferences for our purchases.

BTW, I didn't go into the site but with them billing for us please expect pricing to be considerably higher and no negative comments.
