ResMed VPAP Auto 25 - Sweet Machine?

Post by Bluebonnet_Gal » Fri Jan 09, 2009 1:31 pm

I'm back from the DME and I have my Bi-PAP which should be my permanent machine. I was excited when he pulled an h4i humidifier out of the bag! He went on and on about the differences between the h3i and the h4i! My appointment took way longer than necessary in my opinion, but at least he tries to explain things thoroughly. Of course I let him think I didn't really know much about anything. He seems to think that a normal customer won't understand all the clinical settings and such.

FINALLY he pulled out the ResMed VPAP Auto 25. I thought "what? 25? what's that?????". I had done some research and wasn't expecting that. I hadn't found that one at cpap.com. After looking it up on resmed.com, I think I have a pretty sweet machine?

Anyone know more about them than I do? I know the highest pressure on BiPAP is 25 rather than 20 as on the APAP.

Oh, he kept the card that has the clinical settings guide. He took it out of the bag and said he always makes himself a copy and puts notes on it what setting he put me at. I thought I'd get the original back, but he didn't put it in the bag. Before I left I asked him if I needed it and he no, that's for him - it's all the clinical settings (as if I wouldn't understand it). Sheesh!

Now I need to hunt down a clinicians manual!

Yeah, you got a "SWEET machine"!!! I'm one step behind you w/the Resmed VPAP Auto (20 cms). I'll e-mail you the pdf Cinicians Manual for the VPAP Auto if no one can send you the Clinicians Manual for the VPAP 25. I doubt there is that much difference.

You did get a sweet machine. I got mine in July and I LOVE IT. I feel
so much better now than before when using my cpap. My pressure is 22/16, I use a Swift nasel pillow, with a chin strap.

That's good to know. I use it the first time tonight. I'll see how it goes!

I hope so too. The machine has more settings that the regular Auto-PAP. I may need some help from you "veterans" when I get ready to experiment with settings!

I just got the Vpap auto 25 today, they left the quick setup guide in with mine surprisingly. I don't think the medical supply store I got it at knew it had the clinical flow-chart on it.

Is there a place online where the PDF of the clinical guide is available? There are infinitely more settings on this thing than my wifes machine.

Hi there. Great forum here! I saw how helpful you were and was wondering if you have the clinician settings (and how to get into them) for the Vpap Auto (not sure if its the 20 or 25, just says "Vpap Auto" on the front. I have the serial for it if that helps.) I would also like the manual in PDF please. Thanks so much in advance

Hi there!

My husband was just recommended for a VPAP Auto sleep apnea machine. Can anyone tell me what a ballpark figure for this machine is? We were quoted $1,800. Unfortunately our insurance does not cover this so we are trying to price around.

Thanks for any info you can give!

I have been on the ResMed VPAP Auto 25 for a month now. It is a very nice machine, my first machine though so I have nothing to compare it with. I am still new and adjusting to the whole lifestyle, but this thing is amazing how it adjusts itself as you continue to use it. I am looking forward to getting the scanner and software soon. Good luck Bluebonnet Gal, I look forward to sharing what we all learn about this fairly new machine.

Unfortunately, Resmed's (and Respironics' and Fisher & Paykel's) MAP (minimum advertised pricing) policies against online DME suppliers has made comparison pricing somewhat more difficult than it used to be. But its not all THAT difficult.

Do a google search on Resmed VPAP Auto, go to the websites that come up, call their toll-free number and ask if they have an "unadertised sale price" on the Resmed VPAP Auto (or some say "add to your shopping cart) to get their best price. Compare that price to the price that cpap.com offers.

I also just got a resmed vpap auto 25. I had to basically beg my DME for it though. Even though the doctor ordered it, when I got to my DME they wanted to give me a Remstar Auto. When I refused the Remstar and insisted on the resmed, they got an attitude and said they were "the same", even though it was clearly written on the doctor's order specifying the resmed. The DME probably makes more money on the Remstar's and that's why.

Could somebody email me the clinician guide ? When I asked the DME about explaining all the different settings in the clinical menu, the respiratory tech had no idea what most of the settings were for in the clinical menu menu. All he knew how to set the ipap and epap settings. He didn't even know what smartstart was for.

Also, where can I get or buy the software and or cables to download the data myself ?

thanks
