Swift LT Leak Rate
Swift LT Leak Rate
I think that I know the answer to this, but...............
In the morning, when I wake up, I just sort of whip off the Swift LT mask and toss it on the floor and let the "Auto Off" feature turn off the machine for me. The machine will run for about 30 seconds or so and then turn itself off. This allows me that 5 minutes of time to gather myself and get out of bed!
The question that I had is this: Does this maneuver mess with the "Leak Rate" that is reported on the machine? I don't have the software to read the daily occurrances, so I am getting the average for 7 and 30 days. I am assuming that once the mask is off and I toss it on the floor, the machine will register a massive leak that will find its way to the averages.

Re: Swift LT Leak Rate
I believe the machine ignores leaks over a certain value - I use auto off as well and it has never seemed to affect the reported leak rate.

Re: Swift LT Leak Rate
In my opinion, the "Auto Off" feature should be turned "OFF". It's possible to have a large leak and the machine would turn off......while you were still attached to it and sleeping. Personally, I'd want my machine to keep blowing air to keep me breathing/sleeping well. There have been numerous mornings when I've looked at my reports and saw a Large Leak that would have shut down my machine had that feature been turned on. The vast majority of the time, I didn't even realize I was leaking and it was probably caused by changing sleeping positions......and usually started and stopped very abruptly.
I've read that it's possible that shallow breathing could turn them off, too.

IMHO, the software is worth it's weight in gold. (And gold is appreciating these days ).Racurl wrote: I don't have the software to read the daily occurrances, so I am getting the average for 7 and 30 days.

Re: Swift LT Leak Rate
Now THERE is something that I had not thought of! The machine turning off completely when it senses a large leak.
I would think that a person would wake up rather quickly if this happened since getting air out of those pillows without the machine turned on is pretty much impossible.
I suppose that having the "Auto-Off" set is rather lazy actually! I think that I will turn that feature off for now. Thanks, Wulf!!!!!
