Over time does the mask conform to your face or
does your face conform to the mask??
I have been using my Ozzy heated hose for 4 nights.
Sure glad I went w/the original and by passed the snake heater and xmas lights.
I like it. First night didn't sleep well because it was so different.
Tired it one night w/no HH, just passover. ....so, so....
I think I like it better w/HH on 1.
In reading all the the Ozzy hh threads, came across the innovation
and creativity of the junkyard dog......still helping.
He said he got a smaller DC power supply so the hose runs just a litte cooler.
I'm going to give it a try. Has anyone else done this??
6mths on the hose.
I question everyday, why me??
I search, everyday, what has this brought to me?
It has brought:
a new life.
a new body.
a new brain.
dreams, almost everynight.
the return of my guitar abilities.
the return of my creativity
new strength and endurance on my bike.
Neilmed sinus rinse:
incredible improvement in therapy everynight,
incredible improvement in breathing w/my yoga,
incredible improvement in my wife's allergy problems(she started using it too)
opportunities to learn/practice patience
opportunities to realize I can overcome any obstacle
OSA and cpap have and are:
taking me far past my preceived horizons,
have shown me capabilities I didn't know I had.
I don't curse the OSA,
I give thanks for the blessing of cpap, everyday

I can always count on you Carbon... calm, peace and a smile

Re: Random thoughts
Carbonman, your "random thoughts" are more organized and focused than my attempts at linear thought!
Re: Random thoughts
Carbonman, I appreciate your positive outlook. Reading your musings recalibrates my attitude. Having to use cpap the rest of my life doesn't bother me much, I'm just so glad OSA has an effective treatment that has helped me regain a portion of my mind and health.
Wish I could say the same for my PLMD, as my attitude toward it pretty much stinks. Feels like a curse, as the treatments have at times over the past 10+ years proved nearly as bad as the affliction, yet a necessary evil. Even so, I am grateful for the degree of relief I have had.
I am in the process of gathering my scattered writings about this journey thru sleeplessness. Since in my younger day I was the queen of the "power nap" to get me through, I think I'll title it, "If I'd Known I Would Have Taken A Nap." Do have to say I am grateful for all I've learned on this journey. Strangely, having this venue to offer encouragement to others somehow gives value to the experience.
Thanks again, Carbonman.

Re: Random thoughts
I do think the soft tissue in our faces change due to the pressure from our masks. I woke up today worrying about where my ComfortGel Nasal mask rides under my nose. It seems to put a lot of pressure to the gum line at the top of my teeth. I probably have it too tight, but the seal if fair. At 1/3 of a day it would have to cause some change. Jim

Jim, thanks, it's not just me.Goofproof wrote:I do think the soft tissue in our faces change due to the pressure from our masks. At 1/3 of a day it would have to cause some change. Jim
I think my mask is reshaping my face, too.
At first I was kind of freaked about it,
but then I thought, everything else about my body is changing, so why not that, too.
I guess it really doesn't matter, because I'm not going back to the way it was before cpap.

Thanks Carbonman for 'Random Thoughts'
Ditto!! My view exactly. In just the last week since being introduced to a CPAP machine (and I know I have a long ways to go) I feel like a new woman. I've always pushed myself physically in my various sporting activites but now, I can push myself and yet feel pumped, awake, great....not like I'm going to throw up or faint. I can talk to my Mother, whom I love, without falling asleep during our conversation, I can plan on returning to work and Boy! I can start driving my car. You bet, I'm grateful for the CPAP machine (or BiPAP..whichever turns out to be the best for me, we'll see). No complaining here. A bit of rough skin on my face or a sore nose will be a small price to pay to get back my life. I have nothing but thanks to say for you folks who-like me-went through Hell to get here. I have nothing but compliments for the products offered to aid us in our disorder. They work! We're here!! Let's enjoy life. (Just my opinion)

Re: Random thoughts
Thanks - I needed that! The way you look at the brighter side makes me smile.
I just ordered one of those heated hoses, glad to hear helpful things about it.

Re: Random thoughts
Random thoughts, "...run naked down the street screaming ... Now That's a pretty picture! The issue is the air that comes out of the port at the top of the elbow blowing into my face which is disruptive. You can tape that also but loose some swivel functionality air from the vent holes blowing into my face...." (I stole those from OldLincolon)

Carbonman, you are the man, you never fail to enlighten and I always benefit from your posts.
