Problems with ResMed lid not fastening

Post by kjarels » Wed Dec 31, 2008 3:04 pm

Has anyone ever had their ResMed E8 lid not fastening?? I have had this machine a little over a year and a couple of days ago I couldn't get the lid to fasten over the humidifier, finally figuring out that the little metal piece that protrudes out of the bottom is not coming out far enough for the lid to latch. I have no idea what could have happened to cause it to slip back far enough for this problem. I now have to use tape to keep the lid closed or else I can't use my machine at all.

Take it in to your local DME supplier that you got it from. I haven't had that happen to mine but it is my supplier's responsibility to handle any problems I have w/my equipment. You might also check your Users Manual for your Humidaire and see how long it is warranteed. Even "under warranty" problems must be handled thru your supplier.

I had the same thing happen. Very poor design.
I sent it back and it was replaced under warranty.

Began CPAP on Jul 22, 2008. Split Night Study failed to get a good titration pressure. Titrated (2 week home APAP) at 10. Currently using APAP at 13-15. Not using Humidifier. Even with SA under control, still can't sleep all night!

When I can't close the lid I usually push the bowl in and then I can get it to fasten.

I had this same problems a few months in with my Resmed Compact. I was washing it all one day and when I went to reassemble it, I found that the metal piece you spoke of was not protruding enough on mine either. I fished and fiddled with it ten ways to Sunday but could not get it to latch securely (and was really befuddled about how something that was "working" a little while ago wouldn't now). I got mine at the sleep clinic I was tested at and they swapped it no problem - and I can now see why - with what I paid them and BCBS paid them, I could have bought TWO identical setups from cpap.com. Take it back to your supplier/DME...mine said it has a standard 2yr warranty.
