Nasal mask to FFM

Post by leftlane45 » Wed Dec 17, 2008 3:26 pm

Hi all !

Just received my new ffm today, can't wait to try it out. Wondering, if I need to change any settings on the machine when going from a nasal only to a ffm.

Thanks
Jerry

Good question. I've never changed the settings on my M Series Auto when I switch masks. In fact, I don't know that there is any setting that asks you what mask you're wearing. I know some machines do, but I don't think the M Series does.

Now, that said, you may need to monitor your stats for a few days, and compare them to your stats on the previous mask, and compare them to how you feel, and then possibly adjust some pressure settings.

Good luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Thanks Babbette!

I was reading another post when I saw one gentleman say that he received a new mask and before he used it he did something to his machine I guess he reprogramed it. I looked in the M series instruction book but there was nothing on this subject. So I guess I will just do as you say and keep an eye on things.

Thanks
Jerry

M series machines report a total leak rate that includes normal mask venting + leakage from poor sealing or mouth leaks. You need to look at the normal leak rate given in the mask manual and subtract that from the total leakage reported by the machine. On some other machines (Resmed I think) you program in your mask model and the machine reports only leakage from poor sealing and on nasal masks mouth leakage. You do not need to program in mask info on M series machines.
