medical equipment
Hello. I am new to this site. Does anyone have any feedback, either positive or negative about medical suppliers in Rochester (or vicinity) or the Finger Lakes region? I would be using my medical insurance for whatever is covered.

Here we go again ... setting up the stage huh?
Can you Google?

Re: medical equipment
Wow dude. Thank-you for the welcome. I happened to read something about "spam' related to rochester new york but have nothing to do with that. I don't live in Rochester. I live in Newark and work in Geneva but most services are available in the larger metropolitan areas. So, I was asking about all of these areas. Even Syracuse. I am looking at the pros and cons of using a local medical supplier that the sleep clinic is linked to or going online and finding an independent supplier. Yes I am very adept at googling but may not always get feedback about providers. I am a little disappointed that this is the first response to my post.
Re: medical equipment
Jeez, that reply was a bit harsh, DreamStalker.
Caffeine, you might get a better result if you put "Rochester" in your topic line. People who recognize the area will click in more than for a vague subject line.
Best of luck!

Re: medical equipment
I usually go into the nearest CPAP Express store, try on every mask they will let me try, then say "I'll think about it." Then, when I get home, I go online and buy from cpap.com, the hosts of this forum, because cpap.com has great prices and will even do price matching!

Re: medical equipment
Thank-you so much for the advice. I figured I was not doing something right based on the first response I received. I thought perhaps users could not post individual opinions about their experiences or not. I did not understand the "spam" postings but it apparently created some issues. I will try your suggestion (when I get up the courage to post again (LOL))

jnk - it's *(&*^&* like you that will either (1) force manufacturers to disallow internet sales, or (2) ensure local DMEs go out of business or quit carrying CPAP altogether.

You will quickly learn to ignore thedean.
Just recently started dealing with a national DME. So far, they can't get a damn thing right. I supposed to worry about them saying in business? Like everyone else, if they can't proved the service correctly and in a timely manner, they don't deserve to stay in business.

Re: medical equipment
The answer often given here is to ask your insurance provider to list for you which DME's in your area are in-network, if you need to use a brick-and-mortar DME. Once you have that list, you have the ability to shop around in case the first place you go to doesn't treat you well. Do your research. Google does help. DreamStalker's answer was the right one.caffeine please wrote: . . .I figured I was not doing something right . . . the courage to post again (LOL))
Anyone coming to this forum unregistered hinting only for suggestions of where to shop for CPAP supplies in upstate NY is likely to be eyed with suspicion, because of previous spamming.
Oh, and guest, I'm from NYC. I get cursed at every day. Makes me feel at home! Thanks!

I guess I really am new to this site I thought I had registered providing a username, password, email address etc. but obviously I need to do something else. At least now I understand "what I did wrong". I have only been a member of 1 other forum in the past. Thank-you.
Re: medical equipment
Don't mention it. If you see thedean anywhere up there, give him a hug from me and Snoredog!caffeine please wrote:I guess I really am new to this site I thought I had registered providing a username, password, email address etc. but obviously I need to do something else. What was that famous Bush quote ...

Re: medical equipment
If this is a poll, I'll wholeheartedly vote for #2: ensure local DMEs go out of business or quit carrying CPAP altogether.
