Good DME in Lakewood, WA - OptionCare
I want to sing the praises of Option Care in Lakewood, WA (located in the Lakewood Towne Center). This office has recently merged with Walgreen's home care, and they offer full service DME - from cpap supplies to wheelchairs to home infusion treatments for cancer patients.
OptionCare
6111 Lakewood Towne Ceter Blvd SW, Suite L
Lakewood, Wa 98499
(two doors east of Subway off Gravelly Lake DR SW)
253-512-0400
Toll free: 800-277-5805
I stopped in there to check them out today over lunch. They are a new office - only been there a few months.
One horse office for now - Nicole Dominguez is the Customer Service Rep, office manager, and chief bottle washer. ))) She does have RT's who come in for appointments, but for now, she's the main honcho most of the time.
And, folks, get this.... SHE'S AN INTELLIGENT LIFE FORM! Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, humorous.... A real joy to do business with. She didn't know about the NAII, nor stock it, but was really happy to look it up online with me, and look into ordering it for me. She took my insurance info and said she'd find out how much my insurance would pay for it. We talked at length about some other masks she has, and she took me back to her fitting room to show me the Swift LT, which I hadn't seen live yet.
LOVERLY fitting room, complete with recliner, I might add. Ever tried on a mask laying on a dirty office floor? Can you say "Blue Mountain Medical"?
BTW, she takes TRICARE. You military people out there please take note. She says she has NO PROBLEM AT ALL with Tricare.
AND she has pulse oximeters for rent for overnight use. She did say that most insurance won't pay for it, but for $50, I'm happy to pay it myself. )))
I don't know yet if this will be the best situation for me financially, to give her my business, and I don't know yet if I want to switch entirely from cpap.com, but I have to tell you that I was so impressed with our conversation today. I've sent her a pile of links to things, and told her all about Cpaptalk. She was eager to learn more, and just super nice and helpful.
I'll keep you posted on this one, but for now, WOO HOO!!!!
Cheers,
Barbara

Yes, my sleepy friend, they DO take Tricare, and she told me she doesn't have ANY PROBLEMS WITH TRICARE at all.
I definitely thought of you today. In fact I mentioned a buddy of mine on Tricare who subs at LW Library.
LOL,
B.

Re: Good DME in Lakewood, WA - OptionCare
Sorry, I am at work today (but not at Lakewood) and shot that reply off amid answering reference questions. But they still aren't on the Tricare providers list, but as I said, the list isn't perfect....Babette wrote:Yes, my sleepy friend, they DO take Tricare, and she told me she doesn't have ANY PROBLEMS WITH TRICARE at all.

Re: Good DME in Lakewood, WA - OptionCare
Well, I need to put in a plug for my local Option Care out here on Whidbey Island too! Diana is a one person shop and an RT who knows her stuff. I have had nothing but the best care since I switched over to her from the DME from hell a few months ago.

Re: Good DME in Lakewood, WA - OptionCare
Silverdale Wa
Has a good DME service Apria They brought my machine to my home
showed me how to use.
Fitted me with some different masks
Told me to upgrade my Cpap to an Auto. How to go about doing that within a month.
Has a 30 day warranty on masks. You can get another within that time should the first one not work for you.
You keep the first one. I chose to get a ff just in case I needed it.
So two masks for the price of one.
I hated the first FF I called my insurance and they paid for another that I like better.
The office staff is great. The main guy was very helpful. Printed out my data and explained all my questions.
I got my script from my Dr for the clincians manuel so DME could talk about the different pressures etc. They have company policies.
Lakewood people I live on the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows.

Re: Good DME in Lakewood, WA - OptionCare
Well, I have to temper my "Woo Hoo" a teensy bit.
Nicole called me back and said her boss told her they couldn't order the Nasal Aire II for me. So I guess cpap.com won't be losing my business after all. She was pretty bummed about that. The upside is that she told me alot about my insurance and their policies, so I'm a better informed patient.
I still plan to go over there and buy one of those blue zippered Resmed hose covers from her. I didn't understand the point of the zipper until I saw it live - it's a nylon jacket, like a windbreaker. Won't stretch, so it needs a zipper. I wonder what is layered inside? I wonder if putting my fleece cover OVER it would make it 100% rainout proof?
LOL,
B.
