Resmad Vantage autoset
Resmad Vantage autoset
Supposedly the EPR feature on the Vantage autoset machine only works in the CPAP mode but I use the autoset mode and the maching backs down when I exhale and picks up again when I inhale. Can anyone tell me if Is that natural? Thanks
Re: Resmad Vantage autoset
What you may be noticing is that modern machines adjust the blower motor to maintain the current set pressure at the air exit port (very early cpaps didn't do this). So, when you are about to go from breathing in to breathing out - if your machine is set for say 12 CMs - then the sensors at the exit port will pick up when you start to breathe out & in order to keep the exit pressure at 12 CMs will lower the blower speed as your breathing out increases the pressure back down the tube. You can usually see this if you look at the LCD when you breathe out, you should notice a slight rise in the pressure # on exhale & also notice the motor speed slow a little.MickeyD wrote:Supposedly the EPR feature on the Vantage autoset machine only works in the CPAP mode but I use the autoset mode and the maching backs down when I exhale and picks up again when I inhale. RSM, I was using a RESMED Escape CPAP machine before and the air flow seemed pretty constant but with the Resmed vantage the blower slows down so much when I exhale that I can hardly hear it and then gets louder and I can feel the difference in the increased air flow when I inhale again. I have checked my setting and it is in the autoset mode so that is what confuses me.

That kind of sounds like EPR ?
When in clinical menu on auto mode - can you set the EPR value ?
Either way go set it to 0 and see if the same thing occurs as happens in cpap mode - so,
1) compare Cpap mode to Auto mode with EPR set to 3
2) same test but set EPR to 0

Re: Resmad Vantage autoset
Do you happen to actually have an Autoset II? They added EPR in APAP mode for the 2nd generation.

Re: Resmad Vantage autoset
No, I just have the vantage. I received an email from resMed and they said it was just the pressure dropping when I exhale which they said is natural on my machine. It sure makes it easier to exhale.
