"Aftermarket" CPAP Cases

Post by pcathcart » Mon Nov 03, 2008 2:03 pm

I am about to start traveling quite a bit this winter and will be traveling with my CPAP machine and its necessary components. My concern is that the case that I was provided with my machine is not as padded or as secure as I would like. There is quite a bit of room in the case for the machine to slide and bump around. I was hoping that someone could help me locate a case that would be more to my liking. I have considered a case by LowePro or something similar, as these are designed to keep expensive equipment safe, but am not sure what size to get to fit the machine, humidifier, hose, masks, etc...

Has anyone tried this, or does anyone use an "aftermarket" case for travel with the CPAP?

Thanks in advance...

Phil

This subject has come up periodically.

If you go up to the Search line and type in "Travel and Cases" there will be about 5 pages of links to sort through.

Here's one of the links it found:

Just picked this up to transport my wife's apap. Very sturdy and protective. DO NOT buy it at MSRP!

If it was me _ I would get a good back-pack so I could carry my pal on board with me.

If you're looking for a hard shell case, I would go with an appropriately sized Pelican or Hardigg Storm Case. You pluck out as much foam needed to fit the devices you're carrying in the case (it's already presliced to make your job easy). If you're looking for a soft case, check out Crumpler Bags, they have a wide variety of sizes of cases for computers, photo equipment, courier bags, etc. I have a Crumpler Cashmere Blazer, and in addition to my 17" MacBook Pro, I can stuff a lot of things in that case! I carry around a lot of fragile gadgets in mine.

You can't beat a Pelikan for sturdy protection, but it may be overkill. If you think you would EVER be in a situation where the unit would be out of your hands or sight, go for a hard shell case like a Pelikan. Otherwise, check the thread mentioned above.
