I had a 2-week followup with my doctor today and mentioned the constant headache I've had since I started the CPAP. He said that was somewhat common, and that it could be pressure from the machine since my ears are also filling up a bit. But he also said it could be a type of pressure in the brain, and he had a name for it but I've forgotten. Does anyone know what he's referring to? Of course he and the nurse are out of the office until Friday so I thought I'd ask here just in case anyone knew.
He said that there was medication for it, but diuretics and weight loss also helped. Google is not coughing up the answer for me, but I rarely have luck finding answers to sleep apnea or CPAP questions on Google.
headaches
Re: headaches
I don't know the name of what he is referring to... but can tell you that I had a headache early morning for a few days when starting CPAP. I also notice a bit of a headache with a pressure increase. They always go away once I get used to the new pressure.stacia123 wrote:I had a 2-week followup with my doctor today and mentioned the constant headache I've had since I started the CPAP. Re: headaches
Ok this is going to sound a little strange but it happened to me, first what mask are you using? I was using the bravo, i have long hair that i put in a pony tail on top of my head so the mask did not get tangeled up in my hair, but the bravo has a plastic thing in the back that was pressing in to my head as i sleep because i only sleep on my back, every morning i had a killer head ache, but one night i decided to keep my hair down for a little extra padding between the plastic thing. And guess what NO more head ache! be sure there is nothing putting pressure on your head.
I also dumped the bravo, i just can not adjust to it and it made my nose sore.
Good luck i hope you find a simple fix for you head ache.

Re: headaches
I hope they do, Paul -- I'm also getting popping ears when I wake up so I'm crossing my fingers that this is just something to get used to.
Hi Chimom! I'm using a Comfort Gel full face mask. I can definitely feel pressure on my head on the back straps, I'll try leaving my hair down if I can. I've been pulling it through the straps so that it's on the outside, because it gets itchy

Hi Stacey
Keeping my hair down really helped, but my hair is long and VERY VERY curley! And gets tangeled up on the mask. I am now using a resmed FFM the straps are soft and do not hurt so i can put my hair back up on a pony tail on the top of my head. But i really get some strange looks from my neighbors when i forget to take my hair down when i get up and go to take the dogs out side haha.
Good luck
