Hi everyone!
I am new here but have been lurking quite a while. There is quite a bit of good info here.
I am currently using a comfort gel nasal mask. I love the mask but it leaks near my eyes and has been causing some problems. My doc just ordered the resmed optilife mask for me to try. I am a bit worried that it will be uncomfortable as I keep reading that they are hard on the nostrils. Are the nasal pillow type masks hard to get used to? What are everyone's opinions on the nasal masks versus the nasal pillows?
Thanks

Re: optilife mask
Try a SHALLOW Ultra Mirage II nasal mask. It sits lower on the nose and helps with this issue a lot.
Otherwise, go to walgreens and get some Mack's Silicon ear plugs, roll one into a long string and use it like putty to seal.

Re: optilife mask
Hi, Snoozygal,
I've been using the Optilife mask since early July. It's my first and only mask and I really like it. Recently I switched from a CPAP to an APAP and was offered the choice of a new mask, but I declined. I can hear my husband's comfort gel mask leaking all over the place and mine is just fine. Give it a try. It comes with four sizes of nasal pillows; there should be a size to fit you.
Good luck to you.

Re: optilife mask
Hello---I am currectly using the OPTI LIFE---I LOVE the headgear and the ease if which it can be put on and taken off. You can read a book or watch TV with it on --it is a great mask!! I did not like the nasal prongs that it came with so I slot that fits right under your nose--very sleek, comfy and easy to get used to!! I too had been using the COMFORT GEL nasal mask and decided there HAS go to be something nicer that this thing!! LOL! Give it a whirl---try the prongs and the cushions to see which you might like better,
Hope this helps,
Carrie

Re: optilife mask
One other tip about the optilife: if your hair is long enough to pull through the back strap on the headgear, it will help hold it in place and prevent it from sliding up. I do that every night and it really helps. It's a great mask for long hair.
