Anyone use the Liberty mask??
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Liberty mask?? I am thinking about giving it a try, I figure with the nasal pillows it may be similar feeling to my Opus that I like so much. I am really getting tired of the tape on my mouth every night- I am a horrible mouth breather and have to use A TON of tape to keep my trap shut, so I figured I might try it. My DME is very good about letting me take masks home for a week or two to try them out. We'll see how it goes.
Re: Anyone use the Liberty mask??
hey grumpy girl - i'm not really a liberty user per se... I ordered the large and it turned out to be ... well, too large! But the several nights I used to I LOVED it!! The problem was that the mouth piece was too large and i had to keep my mouth inflated to keep it sealed. I used the sizer on the website (resmed? or whoever manufactures it, i forgot now) and I thought i was a large but I guess i wasn't. Guess I measured wrong
For nasal prong type masks I've tried the breeze and the NAII for only a couple of nights each, and compared to those I really really liked the nasal interface of the Liberty (thanks birdshell!). I was going to try the Hybrid, but I was convinced to try the Liberty instead - that was a good move but unfortunately the large didn't work out for me so I'm going to get the small and see if that works better.
Also it was *really* quiet. My activa and UMFF aren't *too* loud but they are annoying sometimes, and the Liberty was sooooo quiet. The seal around the mouth piece wasn't as good as the Activa (nothing is!) but it was better than the UMFF.
The entire setup is nice too - nothing in front of your face, and it was really confortable to sleep with. Not bulky at all.
I have problems with mouth leaking too, and lately I've been getting too congested to use the nasal mask, so that's why I wanted to try the Liberty. I also tape, and it also drives me batty sometimes, i hate not being able to yawn!
i'd say try it! Just make sure to get the right size
good luck!

Re: Anyone use the Liberty mask??
I am on my 2nd Liberty mask, started using theme a year ago. I am a mouth breather and I prefer it over other full face masks because I can read with it, and it does not hurt the bridge of my nose like the Quattro I used to use.
Two problems with the Liberty. First, you still have to use tape around your nose and the interface of the nasal cushions, if not they will pop out in the middle night disrupting your sleep. Secondly, the elbow connector is fragile and will break sooner rather than later and this too has to be taped or replaced to keep the mask working. These two problems are annoying but I have not found a better, smaller mask for a mouth breather like me.
I hope this helps.

I haven't had any problems with the nasal prongs popping out and I haven't really heard about that from others either. Once I found the right size and angle they stayed put.Gtechy wrote:Two problems with the Liberty. As for the elbow being fragile - that's definintely an issue!

Re: Anyone use the Liberty mask??
I just got one from CPAP auction the other day while I wait for my DME to send me my Hybrid. To be honest, I don't like it. The pillows aren't adjustable (beyond size) and they really shove my nose up so as to look like a pig. It was incredibly uncomfortable. It also gave me dry mouth worse than my Breeze and taping does. I gave up on it after the first night.
Still looking forward to the Hybrid though! I've read they're more adjustable, so hopefully the pillows won't cause the pig effect. Otherwise I'll just save it for when I have a cold and keep taping and using the Breeze.

Have you always wanted to try the Liberty? Test drive it here!

If you have severe sinus problems, then the Liberty may not be for you. But then again, it's up to the individual. I have the Liberty and haven't been able to wear it much because of chronic nasal congestion, so I've been using the Quattro instead. I'm still getting used to wearing a FF mask though, and was finally able to sleep through last night without taking it off.

I am using the Mirage Liberty mask.
Small mask, medium nasal pillows, large head gear.
Does anyone have a solution for the <squeak> noise that comes <squeak> from the joint in the front of the mask <squeak> where the hose connects? Seriously, <squeak> any move I make causes the joint to make this squeaking noise that is getting really annoying.

Re: Anyone use the Liberty mask??
grumpygirl I use the Liberty mask I think it's great! The nasal pillows can be a problem with higher pressures, but there is allot of fixes for that, look for the liberty Mask in the Lab Rat Trophy Awards. I must admit I like the Hybrid mask even better than the Liberty. I think it is much more comfortable, especially with the nasal pillows. But I get better data with the Liberty with my machine, lower leak rate and lower AHI. And now that I have let my beard grow out it is much better because the Liberty doesn't have the chin piece on it. But I don't suppose you have to worry about that Anyway I think both the Liberty and the Hybrid are excellent mask and I would think it would be much much better than having to tape your mouth shut, but that is just my oppinion. Good Luck
