What a Treasure: RG

Post by ahujudybear » Sat Jul 02, 2005 8:05 am

Funny thought just occurred to me:

Rested Gal is so good, so knowledgeable, and so clear in her descriptions, that she has to have a disclaimer stating that she is not a doctor! I think that is a sign of just how good she is!

I am so very glad to have met her here and we are so lucky to have her with her storehouse of knowledge!

She is really an Angel. She saved my life after my sister died of sleep

Judy, Judy, Judy...

That's very sweet of you to say, but I can assure you... almost everything I've ever posted has been picked up from advice I'd previously read by wise, creative people who came long before me on the message boards. I just offer it up again when the same questions come up. The archives of this message board, at TAS, and even at the heavily censored "sleepnet" are the real treasures!!

Yes, but RG ALWAYS gives a reply and goes out of her way to be helpful; whereas, I am really lazy and only post when the urge strikes. Besides, she has computer smarts and always makes the links..........I just follow along like one of her puppdog Rotties!

Meister is right in referring to Rested Gal as an angel.
I think of her as an angel of mercy.
Wise and giving.
Her wisdom is in the giving. Knowledge is what you learn from others.
Wisdom is the imparting of that knowledge so that it helps others.
RG, you may attribute what you know to others.
But your soul is your own, and we've been the beneficiaries of your kind soul.

I'm sure you're embarrassed by all this hooplah. Who wouldn't be?
But I only wanted to add my two cents. You've been a friend to us all.
I only hope we can return the favor.

It's the care and thoughtfulness that come through.
The ability to write newbies letters making everything so clear. Adn the ability to do it over over, and yet it's always so fresh.
The kind words that come so spontaneously -

We would all be much poorer (and many of us less compliant) without this treasure.
So, thanks a million, Rested Gal, from me too.
O.

rested gal, rested gal, rested gal! (said in a whiney tone ala Jan Brady's, "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia...)

I don't know what all the fuss is about. So she takes time to answer the same questions over and over and over again without complaint; big deal!

So many of us have learned the invaluable significance of viewing our data using applicable software because we read about her own discoveries; big deal!

So we started taking a proactive stance in our own therapy when she shared her personal experience with self-titration studies to determine optimum treatment; big deal!

So she's used a lot of different masks and adapted some to perform better than they did directly out of the box, and shared these modifications with the rest of us; big deal!

So she takes the time to provide us with links to information we'd never have found otherwise; big deal!

So she constantly reviews and participates in many online Apnea forums, and learns and shares her experiences and knowledge with all of them; big deal!

So she experiments with different machines: CPAP, Bi-PAP, APAP (and different manufacturers) and gives us a review of the treatment each one provides as it pertains to her, thereby giving us insight we'd never get elsewhere unless we were allowed to try each type through our DMEs at no charge; big deal!

So she's good at encouraging us to never give up; big deal!

So she has to use a disclaimer at the end of her posts advising us she's not a doctor because the real docs are all hot and bothered that she shares her opinions and experiences without charging us; big deal!

Besides, anyone with half a brain can instantly tell she's not a Sleep Doc or DME. After all, what Sleep Doc or DME would ever share their experiences proving the advantages of the superior treatment that can be obtained by educated patient-directed therapy?

This big fuss over rested gal.... I just don't get it....

I'm pretty new here, but rested gal was the first name I recognized on this board. She's always quick to help out the newbies, and she's very helpful.

I think she's totally WONDERFUL!!!

One soft, sweet song's just enough to clear my head...

I think she should get some kind of reward, what can we cook up?

She's been a wonderful source and a good friend to all!!!

I'm agreeing with Judy--big time!!

Uh - ummm - go ahead, Gail, put us all on the spot!!!

Okay, so, like, I've got a practically brand-new small comfort gel mask, nice and clean, I washed it thoroughly with dish soap in very hot water. Howzat? RG, ya want it?

RG?

It looks like this has been a long time in coming (are your toes blushing yet? )

Maybe we could send her a case of travel-size bottles of baby shampoo? Or some shapeable pillows to carry in her car? Or a case of Ayr gel (but that could be a bit pricey!) hahaha! Or an assortment of head-gear fabric/webbing for all her creations!

(Not sure any mask washed in HOT water & dish soap would be of much use to anyone!! But you knew that already.... right?)

RG's replies read like a well organized manual on whatever the topic happens to be, easily read and easily understood. That doesn't happen by accident. It takes thought, talent and caring for both the topic and the people who will be reading and making use of the information. And what some of you newer folks might not know is that much of RG's knowledge is imparted in PM's to people when she feels the information is either too specific or too confusing for a general post. So what you see here on the forum is only a part of what she does for us.

RG "saved" me from a foolish attempt to use too high of settings after my RT had gone on vacation. The Sleep study doc said that I could use an IPAP of between 10 and 15, so I had her set the machine to 13/3. Next day she left on a 10-day vacation. Next day I woke up with my heart racing! Same thing the next day. I mentioned it to the forum and RG PM'd me very clear directions for accessing the set-up mode of my particular BiPAP and the way to change the settings. Phwew!! What a relief that was! (Thanks again, RG!! )
