Hello all...I am new here. I wanted to share my story.
I am 48 and I am not sure how long I was going without quality sleep but maybe in the area of 20 years. I don't know for sure. My hubby could not take the snoring any longer so I did the sleep study. 62 apnea events per hour and 70% oxygen. I was shocked. Severe sleep apnea. Now I knew why I had to take 2 naps a day and felt lethargic all the time!
Anyway, I now use the wonderful Resmed Elite machine with the resperonics nose pillow. I told myself I would not give up on finding the right mask or nose pillow. I needed my sleep! Now, I just had my first dr. appointment. He read my information card that goes into the machine and no apnea events and my oxygen level is fantastic. I used the machine every night and it was all great!! I am thrilled. This has saved my life.

Congratulations! That's great news. Hopefully your story will encourage some who are having a harder time hang in there, to get the great results you have achieved. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats Sunshine! I was like you, once I decided to make the leap and admit I had apnea, I jumped right into doing something about it. I was worried about adapting, but I've been on cpap for about 6 weeks now, and it's really been a very smooth adjustment (although I am trying a new mask). Keep it up!
Re: New cpap user - love it!
I've only been using cpap about a month and I'm in love with my machine too!!! I'm 53 and my doctor wanted me tested because of uncontroled blood pressure. My first night I slept 7.5 hours non-stop, no potty breaks and it was usually 4-5 so I must really be in deep sleep. Today I took my blood pressure and it was 128/89 with only 1/2 of my meds. When I started it was 204/135 it wouldn't have been long before I had a heart attack. I just got a second mask from the cpap auction new for $6. and I really love the petite mask. my face isn't petite but my nose is very tiny. Welcome aboard!!! Life is good!!!
