Mask noise - popcorn anyone???

Post by Abby » Thu Sep 25, 2008 6:44 am

Hi,

After my first night with the Quattro full face mask, I must admit that it was a lot easier than my service rep suggested. I didn't have any trouble keeping it on all night woo hoo!!

I did notice that there seemed to be a noise in the mask -- like popcorn popping. Is that indicative of a leak or water in the hose? I'm just guessing lol -- Does anyone know? I am also assuming that the bulid up of a bit of condensation is due to exhaling into the mask.

Here's hoping my second night goes just as well. Worse case scenario, I'll start dreaming about popcorn -- it could be worse lol

It MIGHT be too much humidity condensing ("rainout") in the hose and restricting the airflow. The "popping" noise could be from it the water hitting the ribs inside the hose as the air tries to get past. You may want to turn down your humidity setting or cover your hose with a fleece-type cover......another option is a heated hose.

Oh Den, I think you are right on the money. After reading your reply I went to check my humidifier setting and it was set at 5 (maximum). I must have accidentally hit it while I was cleaning the outside casing on my cpap machine.

I've moved it back to 2, so I'm sure that was the problem.

Thanks again!!
