I have ordered a Goodknight420E (cpap.com bundle with humidifier & software) which is arriving Thursday and wanted to get some advice on what settings to start out with. I have a Swift II Nasal Pillow mask.
I don't have my Titration report but the doctor said they took it up to 9 and he was recommending a setting of 10.
Total Sleep time 6:00:30
Wake 1:13:25
REM 1:36:00
Stage 1 00:11:00
Stage 2 03:29:30
Stage 3 00:44:00
I normally go to sleep easily and don't wake up. In this sleep study my cell phone went off in vibrate mode even though I had it set to silent(don't ask me why I didn't just turn the flipping thing off!). That is what woke me up and then it took a while to get back to sleep. I had no problem in the Titration study and tried the nasal pillow mask and was okay with that.
Respiratory analysis
Obstructive 89(14.8)
Mixed 0 (0)
Central 1 (0.2)
Total A 90(15)
Hypopnoea 52(8.7)
A+H 142(23.6)
Oxygen saturation data:
Number of Desaturations 59(9.8)
Minimal SpO2 (%) 83
Average O2 saturation 94
Longest desaturation 112.3
Average desaturation 40.9
Any recommendations on where to start?
Should I start in Auto mode and if so at what settings?
Any other advice for a newbie or from people with the 420E or using the Swift II mask?
Thanks
Auto arriving Thursday - settings advice
Re: Auto arriving Thursday - settings advice
It strikes me as odd that a doctor would recommend a pressure a notch above the highest they tried on you during the titration study.candem wrote:. . . I don't have my Titration report but the doctor said they took it up to 9 and he was recommending a setting of 10. . .
What pressure was specified on your prescription? 10 cm?
If 10 cm on the Rx, I would suggest you start with an auto pressure range of 8 cm to 11or 12 cm. Try that for a week. Check your results using the software. Then make small adjustments, one at a time, at one-week intervals until you find what works best for you.
I was titrated at 13. A range of 10-14 works well for me. I spend 70% of my sleep time at 10 and almost never go above 12. This is much more comfortable for me and it has reduced my AHI to 2 point-something, vs an AHI of 7.5 at 13 cm in the titration study.
There’s no substitute for slow, careful experimentation over time, while sleeping in your own bed.
As you had the one central during the titration study, I suggest you don’t allow the CPAP to go more than a couple of cm’s above your titrated pressure. Too-high pressure has the potential for inducing centrals, then the CPAP will likely increase the pressure to deal with the apneas, only making the situation worse.
Good luck!

Not too many people on the forum have that machine as far as I know. Ozij does have that machine and really knows her stuff!!
Hopefully she will see you post and reply.
