Breeze mask w/pillows

Post by THier » Sat Sep 13, 2008 7:30 am

Well,,

My "wonderful" DME finally dropped off my BiPAP Auto and my new mask,, it was supposed to be a Breeze with Dream seal,, instead it had nasal pillows. I must be doing something wrong, I can't use Nasal Pillows on my Comfortlite 1 or 2, Optilife, or the Breeze. OR can some people just not tolerate pillows? My CL 1&2 are ok with a mask, but not pillows. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Before you ask,,, 'cause I know I would,,, the "respiratory therapist" that dropped the stuff off was NO help at all. She didn't even know that much about the machine, I had to help her operate it,, pretty sad huh?

Glad you got your equipment. Was the person who dropped it off an actual sleep therapist? If so, that's not good. Glad you knew about your own equipment though.

She was a "respiratory therapist" for some reason a "tech" can't drop off a BiPAP auto, so they sent the "respiratory therapist".

Any advise on the pillows from anyone?

Thanks,

Tomjax, the only order numbers I see are for the Breeze w/ one size of nasal pillows, two sizes of pillows, all three sizes, a number for the extra large pillows separately, and numbers each for the Dreamseal assembly shallow, standard, and large. None for both pillows and Dreamseal together.

So: Insist that the DME replace the incorrect item, or order a Dreamseal for yourself on line. Note: the dreamseal assembly by itself costs almost as much as a complete Breeze with Dreamseal assembly $63.50 as opposed to $70, so I would get the full monty if you were going to go that route. That way, you would have an extra headpiece and straps on hand.

Also, be sure you are looking at the Dreamseal, not the Dreamfit. They are NOT interchangable.

I have a dreamseal that came with my breeze along with the pillows.
I will gladly swap this unused dreamseal for your pillows unit.

I am talking about the entire piece that fits onto the end, not just the pillows- i have lots of them.

I'm curious about how stable this mask (with the nasal pillows) for side and stomach sleeping. Looks like alot of pressure would need to be placed pulling up on the nose to keep it there.
DeVilbiss IntelliPap Std Plus with Smartflex; Transcend miniCPAP & Everest2 w/humidifier & batt for travel. UltraMirage FFM; PadACheeks; PaPillow. Using straight CPAP at 13.0/passover humidifier. AHI consistently < 1.5. Began CPAP 9/4/08.

I love my Breeze with nasal pillows! I am a total side sleeper and have found this is the best in comparison to using an actual mask. You don't need a special pillow. The mask would end up pushing into my eye and causing weird puffiness underneath. For the first week I experienced some soreness in the nostrils, but that passed quickly. I have a small nose, and was using the smaller pillows, but didn't feel I had a great seal. I now use the large pillows for my little nose and it works so much better!

I've used the Breeze for over two years and I find it very stable. I, too, found the larger pillows gave a better seal, although measurements indicated that the medium ones were supposed to be 'my size'. I side sleep nearly all the time, switching back and forth from left to right.
